Re: [Elecraft] [EXT]: Stacking KPA on KAT
According to the KAT500 manual, the KAT is structurally sound to handle the weight of the KPA500 and the legs on the KPA500 give it enough clearance for air. I think the rear of the KPA500 is more critical in terms of clearance for air. I have the KPA500 & KAT500 and never set up the equipment with the KAT500 on the bottom, so cannot speak to personal experience. 73, Charlie, N2PKW -Original Message- From: elecraft-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Paul Ecker Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2022 10:33 AM To: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: [EXT]: [Elecraft] Stacking KPA on KAT I am re-arranging the shack desk. [Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Announcement
Good Evening, While making dinner I looked out at the hummingbird feeder. Two of them were sitting on it, both seemed large. The Anna's Hummingbirds are here for the season. Rufous Hummingbirds show up in late February to mid March. This year they had to deal with a week of heavy snow. But they like eating the small flying insects. Anna's are more of a warm weather breed. The sun has fewer large sunspot groups. There are many smaller groups though. Flux is down a bit from last week. Aurora displays are visible farther south. I expect an unsettled ionosphere creating a variety of QSB rates. We will test this tomorrow. Please join us on (or near): 14050 kHz at 2200z Sunday (3 PM PDT Sunday) 7047 kHz at z Monday (5 PM PDT Sunday) 73, Kevin. KD5ONS - Laughter without a tinge of philosophy is but a sneeze of humor. Re: [Elecraft] switchbox KX3 to signalink/mike+headphones
Pretty simple home brew project, I would think. Four stereo jacks, a DPDT switch, a small box and a capacitor should do it. The capacitor is to block the mic bias from going to the Signalink. You would still likely have to adjust levels whenever switching. Would take some study to get all the connections right. 73, Brian, K0DTJ > On Jul 23, 2022, at 17:29, Andrew (A.J.) Re: [Elecraft] Stacking KPA on KAT
I just built my power combo this last week. The stand-offs inside the KAT-500 are designed specifically for supporting the weight of the KPA-500. It's fine! [Elecraft] Stacking KPA on KAT
I bought 8 of those little felt disks that go on the bottom of the legs of chairs to make them easier to move around. 4 on the bottom of the KAT500 and 4 on the bottom of the KPA500. I did this for protection and also to help move around the "stack" when needed. It works FB, and are hardly noticeable. I have the KPA500 on top to minimize air blockage. The chassis of the KAT500 is "beefed up" in the corners for exactly this set up. 73, John W2XS __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Re: [Elecraft] Stacking KPA on KAT
When I had the KPA500/KAT500 I also had the KPA on top of the KAT. No problem. It is also my understanding that like Ian it was designed to be set up with the KPA on top of the KAT. 73, Mark, WB9CIF -Original Message- From: elecraft-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Ian Kahn Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2022 16:09 To: James Bennett Cc: Elecraft Reflector Reflector ; Paul Ecker Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Stacking KPA on KAT Ditto James' answer. Re: [Elecraft] Stacking KPA on KAT
Like Jim, I've had my KPA on top for years. No heat issues because the KPA generates the heat and it is on top. Also, with all of the cables attached to the KAT500 I find it is better having the KAT on the bottom so the cables lay flat on the table rather than all of them arching over the back of the KPA amp. *Ken* *WA2LBI* On Sat, Jul 23, 2022 at 11:37 AM James Bennett via Elecraft < elecraft@mailman.qth.net> wrote: > Paul, > > That’s exactly the way I’ve had my pair set up for years - works great. > > Jim / K7TXA > > > On Jul 23, 2022, at 9:33 AM, Paul Ecker wrote: > > > > I am re-arranging the shack desk.
