[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report
Good Evening, I announced the net early, as usual, but got no response. Next, no one replied to my call up. Then I saw no needles bouncing on my tuner nor the red, blinking LED for transmit. Gears started turning in my head, I started pushing buttons :) Then a dim, misty memory popped up and I tried VOX. It had not been changed in years. Once I reset it the LED worked, and I worked the first contact. Conditions were about the same as last week. There was a fast, fluttering QSB on everyone with some QRN. Signals were OK. Re: [Elecraft] arrl.net domain is being blocked!
H... odd. I have received email via my arrl.net email address within the last few minutes. [Elecraft] K2 muting et al
Interesting to see some of the info on the K2 muting and T/R topic. It seems the person with the query appears to have a solution for his needs. Great. I was going to bring up the topic of Jim Kortge's Magic Box, which at one time was available from 4 States QRP Club. No longer though. Jim has a more recent MB, info is out there somewhere, and I think info is on GitHub or something. http://www.4sqrp.com/MagicBox.php does have the original info, which one can discern pertinent info from I did note that Terry Dayton had, some weeks back, a look-see at using the typical 'ice cube' relay solutions, which he found bad re. isolation etc. Its on his YouTube page for D Lab. His follow-up on a better solution has yet to appear it might be lack of interest re. his followings that has halted that or that he is just too busy now that he has quit his day job to go to D Lab work full-time re. fixing and Patreon stuff. Yes, Dow Keys are the answer often, but harder and more expensive to find... lucky for me I got what I needed cheaper at fests about 30 years ago.. for my Boatanchor so my needs are met for T/R... I still have a Magic Box I have not built and likely will not need since I doubt now I will build anything as separate transmitter and receiver at the QRP level to require it. At some time recently I did ask Jim Kortge about the Magic Box re. some higher power level I might use (BA stuff) but it was not applicable. [Elecraft] arrl.net domain is being blocked!
I've had several emails blocked from my 'normal' email address I use for ham-radio related emails, n8...@arrl.net. According to the email bounce messages I received, all email from arrl.net is being blocked. I've sent an email to ke...@elecraft.com, who is listed as this email list administrator, but he may not see this right away, as this is a Sunday. Does anyone else on the list know who to contact? In the meantime, I've had to subscribe with a gmail address (which is ironic, since the vast majority of SPAM on the Internet comes from that domain), so I can post the 80M SSB Net Announcement for this evening. Hope to see you all there. 73, -- Dave, N8SBE __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] 80M Elecraft SSB Net Announcement
Please join us on 3784 kHz (NOTE THE NEW FREQUENCY), 9PM ET Sunday (0200Z Monday). 80M has been good at that time of the evening, with strong signals and little QRN from thunderstorms these days. Your net control this week will be Dave, N8SBE. We had about 2 inches of snow in SE Michigan overnight, so it's all coated in white this morning. Hope to see you this evening on the net. 73, -- Dave, N8SBE __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] Power spike
Hi guys, I did try TX GAIN CAL and it failed on 30m. I had an issue in CQWW CW where one of the ops placed the radio on 30m where there is no BPF so we burned the classic D25 diode. I have replaced that and have gotten RX back and all bands seem to work OK. However 30m behaves strangely also on RX where there is a lot of noise, almost sounds like RTTY all over the band and no normal signals and it goes away when I disconnect the antenna. When I try to listen to the band with another radio it sounds normal and it is filled with CW signals. Does anybody have an idea of what I can have burnt up that only has an impact on 30m? 20m does not seem impacted so I ruled out the LPF and I doubt it would cause the strange RX behavior. /Mike, SJ2W On Sun, Jan 22, 2023 at 1:58 PM Eric Norris wrote: > The first thing to do is run TX GN CAL. Re: [Elecraft] Power spike
The first thing to do is run TX GN CAL. That usually stops the spikes. My K3 #2254 began needing that every few months, and sometimes I had to run TX GN CAL multiple times. Eventually, at Wayne's suggestion, I sent it in for repair. They found some burned resistors in the LPA SWR circuit, which were replaced. I haven't tested it yet, because, you know, my K4D arrived. :-) 73 Eric WD6DBM On Sat, Jan 21, 2023, 12:47 PM David Olean wrote: > I have #1504 and it does not add any spike ever.
