[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report
Good Evening, Twenty meters had stronger signals than forty meters. It also had deeper QSB. Some fast flutter on a few of you. Spring is almost here. Another foot of snow and the ground can start warming. A number of bark inspector bird species showed up when the snow was deep. Creepers, nuthatches, and small woodpeckers. Time for me to clean the hummingbird feeders and set them in place. KD5ONS - Sometimes I fall asleep between nets. I wrote a remedy for that: a timer application I use often. It began like a 3 minute egg timer. But only one time setting seemed a little lame, so I made it for nine times with nine separate alarms. If I hook my laptop up to my Bluetooth speakers a few of the alarm tones can alert me even outside the house. I first wrote the alarms as a sequence of tones in A of various octaves. 55 Hz made the house shake. Since then beep() was deprecated so I replaced the tones with wave files. Re: [Elecraft] KX3 and SWR
It's not actually SWR that kills PAs, but rather the resulting over-voltage or over-current. With an open circuit load, the risk would be mainly over-voltage, but whilst that would be a problem with a class C PA, I'm not so sure that there is a big risk from class AB, push-pull, ones. A PA might survive a very high SWR for some loads, but be very fussy for other ones. -- David Woolley On 16/03/2023 15:58, Ingo Meyer DK3RED wrote: The KX3 should tolerate an SWR of 1.6:1. I have already unintentionally transmitted with my KX3 (5W CW) without antenna and the KX3 is still in good health. [Elecraft] RFI wiht my KX3
I am trying to use a dynamic mic with my KX3 and have RFI on my output. I am using the KX3 as a driver to a KM3KM amplifier looking to get about 400 to 500 watts output. I have a small pre-amp between the mike and the KX3. I have modified the pre-amp to ground the lines from and two the pre-amp at the XLR input/outputs. What frustrates me the most is that I do not have an oscilloscope to diagnose the problem. I have tried using toroid on all lines, including power lines without any success. Re: [Elecraft] K3 KPA100 not putting out in high power
I had the same issue with my K3 a few years ago. If yours is an early serial number, it may not have gold-plated pins on the KPA100 connector to the main board. Elecraft will supply the updated connectors for you, if you feel you can tackle the upgrade yourself. The tin-plate connectors after a while present a higher resistance connection. I updated my K3 and never had that issue after that. 73, -- Dave, N8SBE On 2023-03-16 13:59, Jim Cary wrote: My K3 has stopped working in high power. It works fine until output hits 12 watts. I hear the relay kicking in at that point to switch the K3 PA bypass relay to the KPA100 module, but power goes to 0 and swr fluctuates all over the place. The amp breaker does not appear to have been tripped. Does anyone have a suggestion? [Elecraft] Elecraft 80M SSB Net Announcement
Please join us on 3784 kHz (NOTE THE NEW FREQUENCY), 9PM ET Sunday (0100Z Monday). Note that the net stays on the same local time, when we switch back and forth to/from Daylight time, so the UTC time changes, but not the local time. Now that we have moved into Daylight time and have longer daylight hours, 80M was not as strong this last time. This may also just have been an early Spring one-off, but I guess we'll see. Your net control this week will be Dave, N8SBE, although I've had intermittent antenna issues at high power the last few weeks. This seems to be an 80M only issue, for some reason. If I continue to have issues this evening, please listen for Eric, WB9JNZ, who did a stellar job a few weeks ago of taking over as NCS after my hi-power station went down. This week we had some cold rain, and some sunny days, but the temps have hovered in the low 30's each day so far. Hope to see you this evening on the net. 73, -- Dave, N8SBE __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
