[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report
Good Evening, I knew conditions had improved when I got reports of poor propagation. Poor is much better than non-existent :) QSB was prevalent; moderate speed with signals running from ESP to S3, or S3 to S7. Closer stations had a little flutter on top. [Elecraft] Elecraft 80M SSB Net Announcement
Please join us on 3803kHz plus (not minus) QRM (see the Netlogger discussion, below), 9PM ET Sunday (0100Z Monday). Note that the net stays on the same local time, when we switch back and forth to/from Daylight time, so the UTC time changes, but not the local time. As daylight persists more into the evening, we may find it more difficult to conduct the net at its regular time. For the time being, let's keep it at 9PM ET, as that is getting late on a 'school night' for a lot of folks, as it is. Your net control this week will be Dave, N8SBE. Note that I'm portable in Dayton and running 100w this week, so relays will be much appreciated. The group that meets on 3803 kHz before us has been wrapping up operations promptly at or before 9PM ET. There is also another group that normally comes on at 10PM ET, so we need to make sure to wrap up operations by 10PM ET. If any stations wish to continue past that time, please QSY to a clear frequency. If you are a US General class licensee, please ensure that your dial is accurately calibrated and that your transmitter/amplifier combination is clean and free of splatter, since we will be operating LSB within 3 kHz of the lower band edge of the 80M US General class band. I'm using Netlogger, so if you go to netlogger.org and look for the 80M Elecraft SSB Net, you will be able to see the exact frequency we've settled on for the evening. If we find 3803 kHz busy, we will move UP the band a few kHz, so we can stay in the 80M US General class band. Hope to see you this evening on the net. 73, -- Dave, N8SBE __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

The config includes the calibration data, so ALWAYS save the config. Some normal steps before more detailed troubleshooting. 1. Check the power supply voltage while transmitting, the KX3 can display that. 2. Open up the KX3 and reseat the ribbon connectors. 3. Check that all external cables are really, fully seated. 4. After saving a config, EEINIT, then reload config. 5. Update the firmware. wunder K6WRU Walter Underwood CM87wj http://observer.wunderwood.org/ (my blog) __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] KX3 does not signal KPA100 to deliver power
Yet another bug with the KX3 not activating the KPA100 to TX tonight. I have two complete sets of KX3-PX3-KPA100, one for regular use and the other stored away. Tonight I noticed I was unable to transmit on JS8Call after celebrating that finally, after swapping out the SignaLink sound card which will not work with the Realtek sound card file now on Windows 11 (The SignaLink had worked when Microsoft was providing the Audio Codec files on the computer but somehow Microsft has now removed them during an update? )The Play!3 Sound Blaster SBX swap out fixed that problem. So I logged onto JS8Call tonight but this time I noticed that while I could receive, when I tried to transmit, the KPA100 power output meter would not light past the first square, and I received zero Heart Beat reponses, meaning I was not transmitting. I swapped out my other Elecraft KX3 and it worked. So the problem is not the KPA100. I notice now that on attempted TX during JS8Call, the TX red light on the KX3 was doing a high frequencey faint flicker, but stays on solid red when trying to transmit with the MH3, but still no power registers on the KPA100 meter with SSB. My other KX3 did not display this flicker. I have looked through the manuals and have Fred Caddy's book which addresses the issue of no power out on the KPA100 on page 133 but none of these apply. Of course I have the ppt, PA in the "on," position. Before I tear more of my hair out, is there anything obvious I am missing short of recalibrating or reinstalling firmware (I have no settings to really justify even making a back up)?
