[Elecraft] K3 has been sold

2008-03-28 Thread AD9P

Thanks for the response.
I have received many emails asking why I have sold the K3.
We are about to retire, and have purchased a RV . For the next year are two
we plan on being full time RVer's. As soon as we are tied of traveling ,
the first thing I will do is order another K3. It is a notch above anything
that I have used.
Thanks
Al

[Elecraft] K3, and PSK

2008-02-15 Thread AD9P

Is there a way to mute the speaker while operating PSK ?
So far I have not been able to get PSK figured out just yet on the K3.
Serial number 400 went together great, and operates very well on CW, es SSB.
But the Digital Modes (PSK) is still cloudy .
Thanks
Al

[Elecraft] K3

2008-02-15 Thread AD9P

I noticed while scanning the reflector that setting the K3 Line in gain at 5
to 10, and the K3 Line out Gain should be set at the default setting of 30 .
After resolving a software issue I do have PSK working to some degree.
Being able to set the line in gain, es the line out gain would help.
I cannot find these functions in the Menu. What am i missing?
what a neat little radio.
Thanks
Al

[Elecraft] Broadcast Band

2008-01-23 Thread AD9P

Since I will be using my K3 while RVing, my wife raised a question.
Just what is needed to receive the commercial AM broadcast bands? We have to
be able to listen tho the Cardinal games this summer.
Thanks

Re: [Elecraft] Broadcast Band

2008-01-23 Thread AD9P

Thanks for the info. I have the 6khz filter on order, but was not sure if
that was the total answer.
We have a XM radio, but the play by play is not done by Mike Shannon, and
that is a big part of the tradition of Cardinal Baseball. The Yankees, is
that a Minor league Team ? Oh wait a minute , maybe it is a American League
team, same thing ???
Plus using the K3 to receive the games allows me to use the old I need a
better antenna act.
Thanks
Al

There is nothing better than listening to far away AM stations with a
first rate radio hooked up to a Ham antenna...show your wife a comparison
to the reception through K3/RV antenna and then with a regular AM radio
with its puny built in antenna. If she's an avid baseball fan, you may
never have to convince her that you need a new radio ever again...Hi.

Good luck RVing and to the Cards (Until they meet up with the Yankees in
 October, of course).

[Elecraft] Data Mode

2008-01-17 Thread AD9P

I have a few questions

While in the Data Mode (PSK), is the mic input disabled?

Also when one changes opertaing modes such as LSB, to Data is the audio
input changed from the front mic plug to the rear data in? In other words
does the input follow the mode?

Thanks
