[Elecraft] KAT500 Kit Shipping Status
Elecraft, Please update the list on the shipping status of the KAT500 Kit. I know you are very busy shipping many new products, however, it has been over a month since the factory buit KAT500 has been released. Are you getting closer, do you have KAT500 kit ship date? Thank you! 73's - David S. [Elecraft] K3 & Ham Radio Deluxe Ver. 5.1 Serial Communication Issues
I am having trouble with the new Ham Radio Deluxe Version 5.1 software release. Since I upgraded to 5.1, my Windows 7 PC and HRD will communicate using the Elecraft USB/Serial cable as evidenced by seeing the K3 frequency in the HRD K3 emulation screen. However, after a few minutes the K3 emulation locks up and stops communicating with the K3. I am using a K3, P3 and a KPA500 all with current firmware, at 38.4 Kbps on USB emulation Comm 6, when the HRD K3 emulation locks up, the Elecraft K-Line continues to communicate among themselves correctly. Has anyone on the forum made the HRD 5.1 upgrade and if so, how do you have your Comm settings set? Thank you in advance for your ideas and help! - David S. [Elecraft] P3 S/N 937 Simply Amazing
Santa brought a P3 kit to me yesterday; in two hours the kit was assembled and connected to my K3. If you are like me, and have been using your radio “ears” to determine who and what was above and below your operating position, the P3 Panadaptor is a real "eye" opener :-) (LOL) Visualizing the spectrum around you is incredibly useful. It’s simply more intuitive to have your ears and eyes working together when operating with a P3. Many of the features on a K3 become increasing useful: diversity receive, shift. The P3 is a highly recommended option to any K3! The P3 will definitely improve my operations and contesting. Thank you to the Elecraft design team! 73's N3CAQ ----- 73's David S. [Elecraft] K3 Loss of Transmit Power after the KRX3 installation
About a week after I installed the KRX3 Subreceiver, I noticed the K3 had lost all transmit power. The symptoms were: 1) No RF power output 2) After the tuning process the radio did not report back the SWR 2) On the 100 watt meter scale only one bar was on during transmit 3) I could hear the relay engage as I lowered power below 12 watts 4) Fans were functioning 5) When I tried to run the Transmitter calibration routine, it failed on 5 and 50 modes with error: ERR TXG 6) The PA fuse was not thrown When I removed the top of the radio, I noticed that the TMP cable had come loose on the KREF3 board on the J7 connector. Replacing the connection restored TX power. Kit builders note: When adding the KRX3 the instruction manual shows how to dress the TMP cable at J7 and if you are not careful the dressing of the cable can place sufficient downward pressure on the TMP connector that over time it will dislodge itself. I have seen a number of people reporting the same issue, so I thought I would post the fix on the forum. - 73's David S.
