[Elecraft] KPA1500 Operating Remotely
Can someone assist me- off the reflector- with the different settings needed to operate the KPA1500 remotely? I have it operating behind a VPN, and I want to be able to operate it either via another computer at the location or via Ethernet from my residence. Thanks for your assistance. I can't find any help files available. [Elecraft] K3/0 Firmware
I have had a K3/0 for about 5 years now. In that time, I don't recall ever doing a Firmware update on it. Does it require one? What is the current firmware for the K3/0? [Elecraft] Y Cable for K3 ACC 15pin connector
I think someone out there has a source and part number for a compatible 15 pin Y-connector. I need the type where the pins are connected straight through. Please reply Direct. [Elecraft] Disappearing Line Out Audio for Sub Rx
K3 Firmware 5.10. When the K3 is put into Diversity and the mode is RTTY, the Line out Audio for the Sub Rx disappears. When in Diversity mode, I know there is audio in both headphones; shouldn't there be audio on both channels of the Line Out? Do I not have something set correctly, or is this a new feature? [Elecraft] K3 Issues since Synthezer Upgrade
I did the Synthesizer on my K3 a couple of weeks ago. After putting in the synthesizers, I also upgraded to Firmware 5.33, which was the latest at the time (I see that 5.35 was released the day after I did the upgrade). The SYNTH OK messages were seen on the menu, and the configuration was redone as specified in the instructions. I also took care not to lose any washers inside the radio, and to not disturb anything within the radio. Since then, I have had a number of issues with my K3. #1- DVK doesn't work via N1MM command. VFO B says "DVK Not installed", but I do have one installed. I can also play the messages by pressing the Message key. I checked the config menu, and it says it is installed. #2- I have heard a number of loud audio "pops" since the above changes. #3- I have actually lost audio several times with no VFO B errors- audio just stops in the middle of a QSO. #4- During CQWW RTTY, if I was transmitting and pushed a key- say A/B, or Rev- transmitting stops, I get an "Error PTT" followed by an "Error Key" in the VFO B window for a few seconds each, then the radio clears itself. I can then resume transmitting. No audio loss while this is happening. #5- During the contest, N1MM would show the Radio Mode as PSK. The program would keep on transmitting RTTY, and what went into the log was indicated as RTTY, the K3 was working properly in RTTY and indicated it was in Mode D FSK correctly. #6- When I tried to use Diversity reception, the K3 would switch into Diversity mode correctly. After a while, I would get a sudden total audio loss and one of several DSE errors: E01, E00, 00C2C2, 003030. #7- Turning the diversity OFF seemed to decrease the severity of In all cases, power cycling the radio would clear the error and the audio would be restored. I've tried reloading firmware, and it reloaded without a problem. Yes, I power cycled the radio immediately after the firmware update was done. I haven't tried downloading the firmware a second time from the web site, and then reloading it into the radio but I suspect that may be the next thing that I try. At this point, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks for input! [Elecraft] K3- Line Out Audio
I'm going to second Peter's request, but let me explain it in a different manner. I'll use the terms "Rx audio" to mean the audio from the receivers, and the "Tx Mon" to mean the audio that is being transmitted.; you get a constant audio level output regardless of your AF setting. Currently, the Line Out audio level is adjusted in the Config menu. For recording purposes, IMHO, it works correctly. If you want to record just the receive audio, it is fine. When you want to record the actual contest, though, the receive audio alone isn't enough; you also need the Tx Mon audio. The Tx Mon audio that is mixed into the Line Out audio is varied by the Tx Mon level control on the front panel. If you turn the Mon control fully counterclockwise, you have no Mon audio in your headset and no Mon audio in the recording. Why is this important? As an SO2R operator, I use the Tx Mon audio for two things: make sure I'm not sending gibberish, and as an audio cue that a specific radio is done transmitting. The Mon level is set so that I can barely hear it in the headphone; many SO2R ops use the Mon in just that manner, as does PC2A. If you adjust the Mon gain in that manner, the Tx Mon audio disappears from the recording. In addition, many ops route the mike audio through the soundcard so that they can do on-the-fly recording. Many soundcards introduce enough latency into the process that listening to yourself through the delay is very fatiguing; the easy solution is to turn the Mon level so that you don't hear it. When you do that, the Mon audio disappears from the recording. What we'd like to see is the transmitted audio, be it from cw sidetone or digital signal or ssb audio, to be mixed into the Line Out audio at a level that is not changed when the Mon control is adjusted. The transmitted audio level should be adjusted in step as part of the Line Out Config menu selection. With the new recording needs of CQWW, this should be implemented. Result is a blank or weak TX audio in the recording. See http://mailman.qth.net/pipermail/elecraft/2009-January/102536.html The RX part is done a long time a go but till now no solution for the TX part. With the new rule of audio recording for the upcomming CQWW it pops up again and I like to ask if its possible to add a fixed audio level output for TX From http://www.cqww.com/rules.htm *C. Audio Recordings:* Any single operator entrant (see V.A.1) competing for a top three finish at the (a) World, (b) Continent, or (c) USA levels, must record the transmitted and received audio as heard by the operator for the duration of the contest operation. Are we not al winners in some kind of catagory? :-) Peter PC2A __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
