[Elecraft] K3 Mini - Loss of bias - side mic jack
It appears I have lost the bias supply going to the side Mic jack on my K3 Mini. There is no bias voltage on the tip of a test cable. However there is 4.7-4.8 volts appearing on pin 6 of the 8 pin front panel mic connector. I note that turning on the Mini from a cold start I see 3.8vdc on the tip of the test cable but it only lasts for a few seconds and very quickly decays to zero. The Menu setting rP.L bIAS is configured and turning the bias off/on by tapping 2 does not effect the volatge 4.7 on pin 6 . It is always on. What do I do.? I am not thrilled about taking the Mini apart as I have ZERO technical information about how to dissaasemble it. Nor do I have a schematic to help ID where the fault may be. I have an outboard bias box that came with my CM500 so I guess I can use that in a pinch. Re: [Elecraft] KPA500 Remote Software will not pin to STARTUP list
Lyn Many thanks for your help. That worked perfectly! KAP remote just started when I rebooted using access via ANYDESK I appreciate you taking the time to clarify for me. At first I couldn't find the STARUP folder as it was hidden in AppData which I could not see . Discovered how to make it visible and went from there. Thanks again! 73 Frank VO1HP On Thu, May 7, 2020 at 12:05 PM Lyn Norstad wrote: > Frank - > > I have both the KPA and KAT500 utilities set to do this, along with my > browser (Chrome) set to QRZ.com on one of my Win 7 systems. Re: [Elecraft] re TCP Port for KPA500 and KAT500
John This solution is interesting to me since I already have the two USB-Serial cables in use with the remote PC. That PC hosts the Elecraft remote software. Only problem is I know next to nothing about Linux. I have a spare PC that I could convert to LINUX but I need to start from scratch! Thanks for your suggestion and I will consider it . I am going to try and make the Serial server work first and have to take it to the remote site as soon as weather permits! 73 Frank VO1HP On Tue, Feb 18, 2020 at 9:00 PM John Newgas wrote: > I can’t help with whether the ports are hard coded or not … but I can give > you a neat solution. > > You can use a low cost raspberry Pi with a couple of USB to Serial > adaptors to link to the KPA500 and KAT500 > > The free software ser2net will give you a direct interface from the TCP/IP > to the serial ports. > > Configuration is pretty easy and basically two lines like > 4626:telnet:600:/dev/ttyUSB0:19200 8DATABITS NONE 1STOPBIT banner > 4627:telnet:600:/dev/ttyUSB1:19200 8DATABITS NONE 1STOPBIT banner > > You can connect to the TCP/IP side of the Raspberry Pi through WiFi or > Ethernet from your main router, but you would have to open those ports > inside the router. > > I run my KX3 remotely like that without problems ( higher baud rates work > well for me ) > > John G7LTQ > > > > __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] Using KPA500 with remote serial server
I am seeking information on how to configure the Elecraft remote software for the KPA500 to work with a remote Startech 2 port serial server. I have been trying various combination of IP addresses and ports using a wifi hotspot that is outside my home network . Emulating what will eventually be the setup when I move the KPA to my remote site. I want to turn off the PC at my remote site to save power! Can anyone help. ? 73 Frank VO1HP __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] CW Sidetone recording.
I used the K3 recorder a lot when chasing a DX station in a pileup. I like to try and capture a recording of a succesful QSO. Is there a way to record my transmitted CW sidetone on the K3 recorder? [Elecraft] K3 RX IN/OUT and Splitters
I am want to split my BOG RX antenna between my K3 RX IN jack and the ANT port on my AFEDRI-LAN SDR at my remote site. I am going to access the SDR remotely using SDR Console and run CW SKIMMER on the ARRL DX Contest PC in the home shack. My K3 has no built in Tuner and no 2nd RX. I have been looking at various schemes people are using to split antenna feeds. Some are using a splitter between the RX IN/OUT jacks on the K3. What is the point of doing that? The MAIN Ant port is always used as TX antenna. When RX ANT (Tap) is activated the RX IN Port is connected to the RX/TX and the MAIN ANT Port is connected to the RX OUT port. I see people talking about the RX ANT "LOOP" . As far as I can see there is no RX ANT "LOOP". What is the point of the splitter between those those two jacks.? The jacks are labelled RX IN and RX OUT. The labels imply that the RX antenna also appears at the RX OUT jack but that is not the case. I am just going to connect a BNC "T" in the BOG RG6 line at the radio and feed the K3 RX IN port and the AFEDRI-LAN ANT port. If that doesn't work satisfactorily ...I'll use a passive splitter in the RG6. Am I on the right track? 73 Frank VO1HP <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email_source=link_campaign=sig-email_content=webmail> Virus-free. www.avast.com <https://www.avast.com/sig-email?utm_medium=email_source=link_campaign=sig-email_content=webmail> <#DAB4FAD8-2DD7-40BB-A1B8-4E2AA1F9FDF2> __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
