[Elecraft] RE/KX3 Future Accessories KX2

2017-03-30 Thread George Sereikas

Wayne,

I have one small request for the KX2. I’d like to see a replacement VFO tuning
knob that is easier to tune.  I find that the current knob slips/slides off my
finger.  A finger “dimple” or maybe something as simple as a rubberized knob or
cover would do the trick.  Love the KX2 and the KX3,  but that one small
improvement would be great.

Keep up the great work!

George

Re: [Elecraft] Use of external speakers/amp

2010-10-04 Thread George Sereikas
I have had my K3 for some time now. I have always used it with an external
speaker and at one time tried it with Stereo speakers (West Mountain Radio
Communications Speaker System, Powered). While the West Mountain speaker system
worked ok, I found the lower frequencies were lacking an I hated all the
additional wires. Over time, I tried several speakers that were generally
designed for HI-Fi use. Some were too tinny and sounded best if the tweeter
was disabled. In general I found that I could always get pleasing audio from
them by adjusting the receive EQ. I have never found the K3 to have low audio
in terms of amplitude. The K3 audio amp seems to have plenty of headroom to
drive any of the speakers that I have used. The K2 does have issues with audio
output, but not the K3. I have compared the K3 receive audio to the audio from
several rigs in the shack with the same speakers (PRO III, TS-2000, FT-2000,
Omni VII, Drake 2B, Heathkit SB-102) and IMHO, the K3 is eve
ry bit the equal of any of those rigs as far as receive audio goes. It could
be my ears and the range of my hearing, but there is NO fatigue with the
receive audio in the K3. Just my $.02 wort of opinion!

[Elecraft] KRX3 Installation ; ERR VCO 00227

2008-12-09 Thread George Sereikas
After installing the latest firmware, I installed the KRX3 that I just
received yesterday. All went smoothly until I went to Calibrate KsYN3
(p 43 in KRX3 Manual). I keep getting ERR 00227 VCO. I also received
the ERR 00228 VCO one time.

Any ideas where I might look to solve this issue?

Thanks!

George

[Elecraft] K3: Rose Kopp Carrying Case - Outstanding!

2008-06-14 Thread George Sereikas
I ordered a carrying case for my K3 from Rose/Ken Kopp and I couldn't
be more pleased. I ordered the version with the 2 extra pockets and it
is a work of art. It was delivered quickly and the workmanship is
outstanding. With the 2 extra pockets I have space for various odds
and ends when I go portable. I recommend this case to protect your K3
when going portable. Rose and Ken are a joy to deal with and they make
a great product.

[Elecraft] ANYONE HAVE SECRET TO ALIGNING?CONNECTING K# FRONT PANEL TO MAAIN RF BOARD

2008-05-07 Thread George Sereikas
I am building my K-3 and have come to the point(p 36 in instructions)
where I am attempting to mount the Front Panel. I can't seem to get it
on. I'm afraid to put too much pressure for fear of breaking
something. Any good ideas on this from someone who has already done
this?

Thanks!

[Elecraft] Received K-3 Yesterday Missing Parts

2008-05-01 Thread George Sereikas
Ordered my K-3 on November 26, resceived it yesterday. Started
building it. It is typical Elecraft brilliance with excellent
instructions. Seems VERY easy to build. Unfortunately, kit came
without Left and Right Side Panels. Included extra set of bottom
panels. I wonder if someone else is missing the bottom panels and got
my side panels. Oh well, a quick email to Elecraft should get the
panels here soon. Can't wait to get this little beauty on the air soon.

[Elecraft] HELP! Problem With K2 I am building!

2005-05-05 Thread George Sereikas
I am currently building my first K-2 (SN 4645) and have run into a
problem. I am going through the Alignment and Test, Part II( p 60 in
current manual) and specifically, I am doing the VCO Test. All I get
is a reading of kHz when using CAL FCTR and the counter on TP1.
Also, when performing the next test VCO Alignment, when adjusting L30,
I get NO change in voltage...it never moves from 8.3 V.

I rewound T-5, thinking that may be the problem, but that did not
helpno change.

Any help would be appreciated. Everything has gone smoothly until now.
This is GREAT fun!

Thanks

George
