[Elecraft] Kit Builderes?
I have K2 and KX1 kits which I got a year or so ago from a local ham who like me never built them. Both are probably 4 or 5 years old! I have no time lately and no place in this QTH to build a kit and I'm getting tired of seeing the boxes on the floor of the shack. If anyone here would like to build the kits for me let me know by direct e-mail how much you would charge for each kit. Perhaps I could get to the KX1 here but the K2 will never get done if I have to build it. Good intentions never get anything done! 73, Puck W4PM __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] Kits built for W4PM
I received 9 responses with offers to build the K2 and/or the KX1. In addition I received 3 or 4 other responses directing me to builders. I appreciate all responses. I need to put all the information into a spreadsheet (I'm a former accountant) so I can quickly compare the various responses. Some quoted prices, others needed more information. Here's more information: KX1 -Includes the 30M adapter. This kit has not been started. The box has been opened but all parts are in original parts bags and/or wrappings. The owners manual is REV A 10/10/03. The serial number may be 000100 if that's what that number on the box is? K2 - a very early kit which includes the following manuals: Rev A - 06/14/99 REV C - 04/19/00 The original owner must have ordered the newer ones later! REV E - 02/16/03 The original owner sorted and checked all parts and has them in boxes in envelopes identifying the contents of each. A set of prewound coils is in there too. There is also a box identified as "Revision B Components kit". In this kit components are all in original bags or wrappings. It has a new serial number of 03309. The original owner included a literal "mountain" of printed messages from the various Elcraft reflectors. The actual building of the kit has not been started. No soldering gun, wire cutters, screw drivers etc have ever approached this kit! :-) Frankly with all the various changes that have occurred I would not know where to start. Again thanks for the interest shown in this project. For those who needed more information before quoting a price let me know if what I provided above is sufficient. Those who inquired if I had received their messages, be assured I did but the response has been a bit overwhelming. For now I'm posting this to the reflector rather than respond to each of you individually. 73, Puck, W4PM __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] K2 S/N 3309
Alan W1HYV built this little gem for me and he did a beautiful job. This was a very old kit s/n 192 but it had the rev B RF board so it ended up with the newer serial number. Alan also installed a few mods which have occured over the years since this old kit was bought. With the help of the Elecraft web site and Tom N0SS I've got it all calibrated, the BFO's set properly and the Audio filter adjusted to peak at my 600 Hz offset. My settings not be exact because I've not used the Spectrogram program but I'm real close! Calibration is within 20 Hz at 10 mHz and the s-meter peaks when the signals are tuned in on their zero beat frequencies on CW, CW-R and both sidebands. I may tweek it a bit more once I make up a cable to send the audio to my sound card. This is the basic radio with only the AF/RTC installed. I also have the KSB2 kit and may build it at some time in the future but it sure has a lot of small parts densely packed on a tiny board - not a easy looking task for sure. I also communicated with support at Elecraft about the old KNB2 kit I also have and found out I need to update it a bit before building and installing it. They sure responded extremely quickly to my query! I understand now why they have such a strong following. Not only do they make outstanding radios, they give outstanding support to their customers. Back to working some CW DX and a few rag chews with this fun and great performing little radio. 73, Puck W4PM __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] K2 SN 192 ?
I have a chance to buy a rather early K2 in unbuilt kit form. It's serial number 192. It has the SSB adaptor, Noise blanker, Audio filter, a set of pre-wound toroids and the Revision B boards and parts and updated manual. In doing some research on the WWW, I see there have been a number of changes/modifications over the years by the factory and others. I've run across alternate wiring for the AF gain and mention of a cure for BFO drift. Does someone have a list of the various changes that I should incorporate while building this rather early K2 should I decide to take the plunge and buy it?
