[Elecraft] Re:NorCal 20 or 40

Ha
Does anyone know where I can find a NorCal or Red hot 20 or 40 kit that
someone bought but never assembled? A good friend of mine wanted one of
these rigs but production stopped before he could purchase one.

Ken

This is strange the 4 band filter board I just recently built had a no
oscillation on the 18.100 crystal. I installed another crystal and problem
was solved. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem recently.

[Elecraft] Re:KFL1-4 Option

Ok, I found the problem of no 30m band. It was what I suspisioned with the
18.100MHz crystal not oscillating and all the others were. I installed
another 18.100 crystal and BINGO the mojo started working. Tuned up
beautiful. I don't know what happened, or why the crystal would not
oscillate. I don't think I damaged it in the installation but it could have
happened. I have never gotten a bad crystal before and I have installed alot
of them over the years. O-well things happen.

[Elecraft] Re: KFL1-4 Option

2004-12-27 Thread KN4UD
I have an older K1 serial # 00427. Ijust purchased and assembled the KFL1-4
board and installed it in my K1. I chose to use 40, 30, 20 and 15 meter
bands. All went togeather very smooth. The problem started when I went to
adjust the trimmers. I followed the procedure as described.10MHz seemed to
not have any response. All other bands work smooth as silk. I don't think
the 18.100 MHz crystal is oscillating. I don't get any thing when I check it
at a point beside C5. All of the relays are working properly. I set it on
30m and turned off the power, removed the board and checked continuity at
all the proper points with the relays set and all was OK. What do you guys
think. I may have damaged the crystal.
Not 100% sure. Any suggestions.

[Elecraft] RE: K1 10 turn pot

2004-11-29 Thread KN4UD
I have an early K1 #00427. My tuning pot shaft over the years has got very
loose. I have been looking at a pot in the Allied Electronics catalog that
has a metal shaft with a metal bushing. Would there be any problem using
this pot?
