[Elecraft] More Winlink on K3S
My troubles with Winlink on the K3S continue. I used the setup that was recently suggested here, and I was able to control the radio and transmit. However. I am still unable to connect via Winmor. In the window with the waterfall, I am seeing the following message in red when attempting to connect: "Timeout on T/R latency measurement” The Winmor documentation says this means that the switching from transmit to receive is too slow. Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem? I was able to connect to the local ARES coordinator by peer-to-peer and send and receive emails. Thanks. With the information from Dave, I got Winlink controlling the K3S. Thanks for your reply as well, Hank. [Elecraft] FT8 Driver Issue
I am running WSJT-X in FT8 mode on my K3S using the onboard sound card and USB cable and VOX for keying. My computer is a Mac running Catalina. The K3S manual recommends setting the drive at 4 or 5 bars to avoid distortion by the ALC.. When I use the audio output slider set the drive level, the display jumps from no bars to 6 bars, and vice versa, and nothing on between. I have also tried using the MIC level and the POWER slider in FT8 with the same results. The software id decoding fine. Can anyon suggest what the problem might be? I saw Wayne and Eric’s interview on HamNation and enjoyed it very much. It is always enlightening to know how things like Elecraft got started. I saw the interview on replay and would have liked to ask them about the origin of “Elecraft” brand name. Can someone fill me in? I am adding the second receiver and a digital voice recorder to my K3S. Both involve additions to the front panel circuit board. Is there a preferred order of installation? Receiver first? DVR first? In the late 1970s my wife and I came home from a party about midnight. I decided to listen to the ham bands a bit, and I heard a call from Guyana. I called and worked them. We later exchanged QSL cards. Several years later while driving to work I suddenly remembered the QSO and the events that had happened since. I rushed home and dug out the QSL card. There is was. PEOPLES TEMPLE AGRICULTURAL PROJECT. I had worked the station associated wit the Jim Jones settlement whose residents later committed mass suicide. I am looking to upgrade my K3S with filters and am using the DX version of the radio as a guide. What is the advantage of the 2.8 KHz filter over the stock 2.7? [Elecraft] Subreceiver Installation Suggestions
I recently purchased the subreceiver for the K3S. Before I install it, it there anything I should know or think about? I think there is a choice of antennas. Is there anything else I should do now that would be harder to do after the installation?
