[Elecraft] RigPi + K3/0 mini?
Does anyone know if the K3/0 mini will interface with the MFJ RigPi for rig control instead of using the RemoteRig? [Elecraft] K3 APF/Dual PBT
When I go into my K3’s CONFIG menu to the Dual PB setting, The only value I see in the screen is two dashes — Turning the knob that normally will change a menu value has no effect. I’m wondering if my APF is working properly as even when I tune in a station on CW with the APF, it is very, very hollow and rings a lot. Maybe this is normal. It really does not help with a weak signal as it rings so badly you can’t hear the weak signal. I don’t think this is what is supposed to happen? The APF in my Icom IC746 works much better (and probably shouldn’t). But it does seem that the item in the config menu doesn’t work at all. [Elecraft] Portable antenna for KX3
I have a Transworld antenna. www.twantennas.com http://www.twantennas.com/ They are expensive. They work GREAT. It takes about 2 minutes to put one up and 2 minutes to take it down. If you want a well built product that works look no further. Again they ARE expensive. But so was your KX3. If you can’t make any contacts because your antenna is not effectve, then you’ve wasted your money on the KX3 which makes it far more expensive. [Elecraft] Memory button reassignment
Well, I did something to my K3 and I can’t figure out how to “undo” it. Apparently I was in the main menu on LCD BRIGHTNESS and must have pressed one of the M1-M4 buttons which has reassigned the button. Now, M1 is assigned to LCD BRIGHTNESS instead of M1 for the memory keyer. I have gone through the manual and I can’t figure out how to undo this. [Elecraft] K3 Centurion Amp
Hi All, I have a K3 which I had been using with a little Emtron 800 w amp. It works fine and the QSK is just great. It keys in a conventional way by connecting a cable between the PTT jack on the K3 and the PTT jack on the Emtron amp. I can use the K3's keyed (which I do) or an external keyer attached to the K3. The other day I decided to try the K3 with my Ten Tec Centurion amp. The way it is keyed is kind of different. You run the line from your keyer to the AMP KEY IN jack and then the KEY OUT on the amp goes to the K3's straight key jack. This is the way they accomplish the time sequencing of the relays so there is no hot switching. This works and for the most part works well but is not quite as satisfactory as the Emtron. The QSK is a bit laggy and every so often there is a loud popping noise in the audio while I am sending. This happens mostly around 30 WPM. Slower speeds do not cause the popping quite so much. I run the AGC in the FAST position. I am wondering if I can change the AGC settings in the CONFIG menu to help this problem? There are so many of them, I'm unsure of which AGC setting to try changing. So, could someone who is smarter and more savvy than I am recommend what to do about this? I know that CW QRQ setting might help, but since you cannot use it in SPLIT mode, it is of little use while DX'ing. I will go back to the Emtron if I have to, but it has a very noisy blower and puts out about 300 to 400 watts less than the Centurion, so I'd rather use the Centurion if I can make it play better. [Elecraft] K3 Birdie
Hey Guys, I'm playing in the CQWW contest and just found something alarming. I was around 28.043 and thought someone was tuning. When I transmitted I noticed the signal go away and then when finished it slowly came back. Kind of a slow start that took about 1/2 second to rise up to full volume. It also started out at a lower frequency and slowly rose up…kind of like a chirp. I then realized it was some sort of birdie. Disconnecting the antenna made no difference. It's a big one. It's S 9. [Elecraft] K3 in AM mode
Hi to the group! I have been slowly loading my K3 up. I concentrated on CW at first, but now I am adding other stuff. A while ago, I bought a 6 KHz AM filter. I was a little confused when I could only open the filter width up to 5.0 KHz in AM mode. I called the factory and they told me that, yes, you could only open it up to 5 KHz with the 6 KHz AM filter. They told me that if I bought the 13 KHz FM filter, then I could open the bandwidth all the way to 13 KHz. So, I just bought the FM filter and installed it. To my dismay, I still can only widen the bandwidth to 5.0 KHz in AM mode. I have AM mode checked in the mode list for the FM filter. The 6.0 KHz filter is still configured for TX on AM. Also, when increase the audio in the AM mode to more than half, the audio becomes distorted and just a little more advanced from that, the audio shuts off altogether. [Elecraft] K3 Software
I was wondering if anyone is aware of any software for adjusting Config and regular menu items on the K3? Or is anyone developing any? Also is anyone developing any frig control software for the K3 (rather than general purpose software like HRD or N4PY). HRD is pretty good, but since being taken over is getting unstable. Also, it still won't allow adjustment of config menu items. [Elecraft] K3 Ham Radio Deluxe
Hi All, I am trying to get me K3 fully working with Ham Radio Deluxe and have run into a snag. When using their DX cluster window, I can click on a spot within the band I'm on and it works ok. But if I try to click on a spot in a different band, the radio momentarily switches to the new band and frequency and then quickly drops back to where I was. I have tried changing the baud rate and it made no difference. It works fine with my old IC746. [Elecraft] CW QRQ problem SOLVED
The other day I posted about losing power when switching in cw QRQ mode (K3-100). At the time I only had the 2.7 KHz filter installed. [Elecraft] New K3--CW QRQ Problem
Hey all, I just built my new K3-100. All seems to be fine except when I try to use CW QRQ mode. When I select this mode, I only have about 5 watts of power output no matter where the power setting is. Elecraft says that the CW QRQ mode has nothing to do with power output, yet I have the problem. I am using the built in wattmeter and an external wattmeter. When I switch CW QRQ off, the power comes back to full. I did a reset at Elecraft's recommendation and it did not resolve the problem. I also loaded the newest firmware (which it should have had anyway) and no solution to the problem.
