[Elecraft] K2 KPA100 Adjusting R26 and R27
Hi elecrafters i am building up my 2nd KPA100 and i got some problems when i had to adjust R26 and R27 to 43 ohms.(see page 48 ). in the manual This was not possible. I could only reach 38 ohms. Adjusting the swr in the next step was no problem and i could easily reach 1.0 to 1. Is there a problem anywhere or is this within the normal tolerance? Thanks for your assistance. Hello elecrafters, my new P3 works fine. Very often i hear a relay clicking inside the P3. Is there anything not adjusted? Is it possible to stabilize the displayed signal curve during tuning? During Tuning the display shows like average is set to the lowest level. I'am not abel to detect signals. while tuning. [Elecraft] K3: keyboard problems
Hi Elecrafters, my new K3 #4739 is ready and works fine. Only one problem is the band switch. Switching the bands up by pressing the right side of the bandswitch works very well. But for switching the bands down you need a lot of pressure, so much that the K3 moves backwards on the table. Any solution for this problem? Thanks for your help. Hello elecrafters, after rechecking all my filters with sprectrogram, i noticed that there is a ripple of about 10 db in all SSB filter settings without the OP1 settings. Is this normal for this kind of filters. [Elecraft] K2: Q6 very hot in TX without mod, Normal?
Hi, today i did a recalibration of my K2. I recognized, that Q6 became very hot after a short time pressing TX at the mic in SSB mode, even without modulation. All voltages at the related transistors are equal to the manual. The current goes from 300mA in RX to 680mA in TX without mod. Hello guys, is it possible to install a KAT2 with older firmware 1.06 (actual is 1.07) into a new k2 with firmware 2.04? Are there any problems comming up? [Elecraft] K2: Sound when switching off k2 after installing KIO2
I installed a KIO in my new k2. All works well, all tests with the KIO installed passed without any problem. But: everytime when switching off the K2 i hear a short sound (sounds like tscherp) in the speaker. With KIO removed, there is only a short klick at power down. Is there a problem or is this sound created from the KIO and normal behavior? [Elecraft] K2: AGC Problem
With my new K2 i have a strange AGC behavior. I cannot detect a difference between AGC on and off. The voltage at pin 5 U2 is exactly 3.8v after changing the 8V regulator to a better one. All my earlier k2's had a large increase in AF when switching off AGC. I possibly made a short between pin 5 and pin 6 of u2 when measuríng the AGC voltage at pin 5. So possibly 3.8 V came to pin 6. Do i have a defective u2? Reception works very well, only swiching on/off of the AGC is without any change. Some hints for me? yes guys, the K3 is a great rigg, with all the features we knew from oher great riggs. But the K2 is classic and puristic. It is the same when you compare motorbikes: the K3 is like a Honda Goldwing and the K2 is like a older Harley. I for myself prefer riding a old Harley. I built 4 K2's and sold them all to get a K3. Now i have a K3 but i missed adjusting and playing with the K2. So i bought a used K2 and i'am happy now that a K2 is back in my home. Hi Folks, thank you for all your help. Gary adviced me to check all the toroids. L6 on KPA3 had a bad solder point. The enamel was not in contact wit the board. [Elecraft] K3:Problem with KPA3
hi Folks, my K3 works fine in the Low power mode. But when setting power to more than 12W, i hear the relay switching but i get no output power, the dc power goes to 20A What happens? [Elecraft] K2 Transmit problem
Hello, doing the 40m transmitter alignment, i saw that my new K2 (#6454) has no rf out and Q6 becomes hot. The built in meter goes to 0.1 W. I checked and rewound T2 and T3 but there is no other result, The problem exists on all bands. With the power setting at 2 Watt, power consumption was 500mW ( 220mW in receive). Receive seems ok . [Elecraft] KPA100 Output not adjustable
Hi elecrafters, since this morning i have a problem with my KPA100. I cannot adjust t rf output. In the high mode, i always have more than 100W with a dummy load. In QRP mode, i can adjust .5 to 10w. When i reach the 10w, the power goes directly (jumps) to the maximum power of about 100w. Any ideas? [Elecraft] K2 Filter Abnormality :Alignment with Spectrogram
When doing the filter alignment with spectrogram i see a filtercurve going up to -30db for approx 5 seconds. Then the signal goes down to -40db. Alway when switching to another band or to another mode this happens. This effect is independent from the operation mode (LSB, USB, CW). First the signal goes up to -30db and then down to -40db. Switching on or off the AGC does not matter. Increasing AF Gain helps not to get a steady signal at -30db. What causes this effect ? What is wrong? [Elecraft] (K2) PROBLEM WITH SSB
Dear all, currently i work on my third K2 #5619. I have problems with the KSB2 after the ssb mod: The modulation is bad and it sounds as if there is RF in the microphone line (the voice sounds modulated in it self). I use a dynamic peiker mike and i have tested some other dynamic mics (eg. Heil with HC4). The mods i have installed are the higher compression mod by changing the the resistor network to 5 single 150k resistors and the other mods described by DL2FI and KI6WX. I do not remember whether the problem exists before the mod. All filters are adjusted fine with the help of spectrogram and the receive sound is very clear and good. I also see on my output meter a jump by slowly increasing the mic input. It seems that the amplifier works not in a linear mode or the alc works not correct. it seems that the sound is much better on 80m than on 10 and 20m. Where is the problem? Thank you for your help. Hello all, my new k2 (4691)is ready and i had some qso,s with it. I have some birdies on the 20m-band, at 14030, 14151, 14211, 14272 and a very strong with s6 at 14363 . [Elecraft] AGC-Preset
Dear All, Page 47 in the (error) manual says: Adjust R1 on the control-board to 3.8 V. I can only reach 3.6V at pin 1 of U2 ( R1 is fully turned counter clockwise). With no signal at the antenna (IF-Gain MAX) i have 3.58 V at pin 1 of U2. With iF-Gain at MIN i have the 4.6V. This seems ok. But the AGC @Saturation is only 4.6V, far away from the expected 6.9V. The radio sounds good. The DC-voltage at U12, Pin 5 is only 3.8, not the expected 5.0. Is there anything wrong? Thanks for your help! [Elecraft] KPA100 +Kat100 in a EC2 enclosure
dear all, i plan to built up a 2nd box for the KAT100 and the KPA100 in the same case. So i can use the k2 for qrp or togehter with the power-box for high-power. what is to order? one EC2, one KPA100, one KAT100-2? do I need a 2 nd KIO or ist the one which comes with the KPA100 enough?
