Re: [Elecraft] Transverter for 70cm?
BTW, I think DEM plugs Elecraft as well and offers tips on interfacing Elecraft with their transverters. I first heard about Elecraft while going throught he DEM website. I thought who the heck is Elecraft, never heard of them but eventually I figured it out! Mark , George Be carefull with the DEM EKT1 interface , is has no Vrfdet circuit. K2 does not work well without it , ofcourse no power regulation with the K2 power potmeter , but also CW sounds bad . Better to use the original K60XV. 73 Nanko PA0V ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. [Elecraft] CW key clicks
Still having a distorted CW signal from my K2. I installed the FWK2MCIO upgrade, hoping the problem would be solved. The distorsion sounds like the russian woodpecker in the 80's And is present on the begin of every character. Turning the power pot has influence, clicks are loudest on low power, and (almost)gone at maximum output I also noticed a second carrier on low power, 1 KC apart from the CW carrier When I increase power this carrier dissapears suddenly(not checked on 28 MHz) I am using the K2 as IF for a 144 MHz DEM transverter. VRFDET is a rectified RF output signal, appr.3V,taken from the output connector, and connected to the RF connection (near the K2 VRFDET rectifier diode) Power regulation works fine on a dummy load, but unpredictable when connected to the driver amplifier(SWR is 1.5 ) I checked also the 28 MHz IF signal , with transverter switched off, signal sounds the same as on 144 MHz. I changed the control board with PA2DW , no difference. RF drive and bias voltage to the 10 Watt K2 amp is interrupted. Something wrong in this setup or problem in K2 ??? [Elecraft] Key clicks
Unfortunately no reply's on my posting, so I guess I have to dig deeper into the way the CW signal is generated, and do some wave form checks. To do this I need some help, because the schematic diagram does not help me. I woulk like to know the signal path for CW ,I guess it starts with U8 but then...?? .mni tnx for your time 73 Nanko PA0V ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. [Elecraft] Key clicks.
Thanks to W6UR raspy CW tone is solved,my mistake C91 not mounted. But still having problems with keyclicks. K2 s power amp is not used, permanent in class C,but a rectified RF output from transverter output is fed to V RFDET pin 10 aux I/O When with external PS 2 Volts is applied to pin 10, K2 starts to transmit.!? RF output LED bar follows this voltage, but has unpredictable effect on output I am checking the signal on 28 MHz with a FT101,K2 power amp and transverter switched off . not overdriving the receiver, noiseblanker off With minimum power, key click when key goes up (open) with maximum power clicks when key goes down. hope someone can help!! 73 Nanko PA0V ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. [Elecraft] Bad CW
CW signal from my K2 sounds terrible ,key clicks and carrier is modulated with a multiplexing signal? Sounds like a purring cat. I tested SSB with the carrier suppressing pot fully CCW, now a clean tone. I excanged the control board (tnx PA2DW) no difference :-( Thanks in advance for any help. 73 Nanko PA0V ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
