Mr Hallas will be correcting his error in an upcoming edition of QST. Ray K3RIZ / This is a question in the December 2009 QST article The Doctor is Inon page 45. From the article: The subtractive translation reversed the frequency relations (and the VFO tuning direction) to result in LSB. The circuit design apparently saved quite a bit of cost in those days. [Elecraft] K3 SSB TX BP Adjust
Would like to know if the adjustable transmit DSP bandpass is on the short list for inclusion in the menu. (Maybe I missed it in the manual?) I plan to use a narrow tx bandpass (400Hz to 2.6kHz) to have maximum power concentrated where many receivers have their effective receive passband. I'll most likely get a lot of time using the processor too. Compromise antennas and low power from my location call for these operating parameters to be engaged. It would also be good to go with a narrower passband when operating on 60M to stay well within the occupied bandwidth limits assigned to that band here in the U.S. Thanks. Ray Kiesel K3RIZ P.S. [Elecraft] K3 passband shift question
Have been reading these threads and other Elecraft info on the K3 with much interest. A lot of good going on here wrt great engineering. One question to which I cannot find an answer... Assume that the DSP and crystal filters are normalized (NORM) with the DSP about the same BW as the crystal filter. If the DSP is only shifted (no change to width), does the crystal filter also track the shift (I would assume by using offsetting frequency shifts in the first and second mixer injection oscillators.) or will it step to the next larger bandwidth filter? Will the tracking feature be present in the first release of units in July? If not, could it be added by a future firmware update? Thank you.
