2019-05-17 Thread Todd Gahagan
I am very saddened to report the death of my long time friend Frederick Cady,
KE7X. Many of you know Fred from his series of excellent manuals written for
Elecraft products. Fred passed away yesterday evening from heart failure. He
is survived by this wife Katie and daughter Elizabeth.

Re: [Elecraft] KX3 roofing filter touching DC jack

2012-09-30 Thread Todd Gahagan
Hi Mike, I had to file off the small bumps on the edge of the filter circuit
board to get mine to fit properly. This was okayed by Elecraft. Be sure to
wear an ESD strap while doing this. Just a thought. Todd

Good afternoon all, almost done putting my KX3 kit together I have the
roofing filter installed and when asked to on page 32 of assembly manual to
fit the top and bottom covers of the KX3 I have a fitting issue. The top left
is not fitting flush as is the top right corner is. It seems to me the DC
jack is bottoming out on the roofing filter board. I have removed the roofing
filter board and all fits fine. I have very carefully looked to see if the
roofing filter is seated and it is also the long screw fit no problem into
the roofing filter board to hold it in place as well...any ideas??

[Elecraft] K3 Cover

2008-04-24 Thread Todd Gahagan

I just received my Elecraft K3 cover from Rose at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
It is beautifully done and fits like a glove. I highly recommend these
covers as the frosting on the K3 cake (or K2 also).

I have no monetary interest in the company but wanted folks to know how nice
they are.

Now, back to getting to know my K3.

Re: [Elecraft] K2 RF Gain Control question

2007-02-18 Thread Todd Gahagan

Thanks Tom,

I suspect the gain pot is defective. I will check soldering also. I'll get
an RF gain pot on the way and try swapping it out also.

Re: [Elecraft] K2 RF Gain Control question

2007-02-18 Thread Todd Gahagan
The lube is a good place to start Ron. Thanks. I have noticed that just
touching the RF knob causes this to happen so you are probably on to
something here. I don't have a lube other than tri-flow but will look for
something like what you mentioned. Todd

Re: [Elecraft] Is it possible to connect a amp to the K2

2005-01-06 Thread Todd Gahagan
Thanks very much Eric. I've been off the reflector for a couple of days. I
believe the keying voltage of the 220 is around 120V DC+. I'll give it
a shot.

The K2/100 already includes a high voltage output keying line for linear
amplifiers on its KPA100 back panel. It can handle up to 200V and 1A max.
Most amps with -positive- keying voltages can be T/R keyed from the
K2/100.

I think the SB-220 uses a positive voltage so it should work.

The few amps with negative keying voltages will need a relay or solid
state buffer between the amp and the rig.

See page 59 of the KPA100 manual for the key out line specification, and
page 53 for the 8R Hold menu option that provides a keyout hold feature to
prevent amplifier relay chatter on CW.
