Re: [Elecraft] Craziest / most rewarding QSOs

2018-09-15 Thread Tony Osman
The QSO that sticks in my mind was back in 1971, I was at college with
Cable and Wireless in Camborne, Cornwall and the main engineering
college was at Porthcurno.  I was the social secretary for my group
(about 30) and my job was to coordinate with the college to get a bus to
take us to the monthly dance.  I had not been able to contact the
college and was in qso with Paul, WB2OZW (SK) and mentioned this, he
then told me that he had just qsoed with one of the guys at the college
- he went off frequency, found him and brought him on my freq.  I could
not hear the college guy, skip was too long but Paul could hear us both
and he relayed the messages back and forward.

I had a number of qsos with Paul after that and he always had a chuckle
at getting us to the dance!!

[Elecraft] Data modes changing in K3

2018-02-11 Thread Tony Osman
Not sure if this is an elecraft issue or a N1MM+ issue, so I will pose
the question in both groups.  I noticed this weekend in the CQWPX RTTY
contest, that everytime I changed frequency by some action on the pc
(N1MM+) the frequency would change correctly, but each time the data
mode would switch from the AFSK A mode that I had selected to FSK mode.
I would then have to change it manually each time.

Any ideas?

[Elecraft] SO2R

2005-11-07 Thread Tony Osman
To get back to the technical bit. Has anyone got K2s or K2/100s in
an SO2R combo? How are you switching? Has anyone tried with 2 K2s to
work split and same frequency on a band (like 40m)?

[Elecraft] CQWW

2004-11-30 Thread Tony Osman
Interesting to see all the people operating in CQWW with their K2s. We used
my K2/100 for one of the multi positions at VE3YAA. Worked on 80m and 15m.
Only ran 20w from the K2 but that was enough to drive the Alpha 89 to 1kw
output!

One day I will try QRP, one day
