Congrats to everybody who has achieved 50 years in Ham Radio. I am a bit short of that here. In reading this thread I wondered if I could find out what source would contain the date a ham was first licensed ? I admit I do not know when I got my first ticket but it was 4 calls and 6 moves ago. HI ! Somewhere back in the early sixties, I believe. I wonder if there are any hams in the People of the Blue-Green Water who live in the western area of Grand Canyon. If so, they might have some experience in propagation from the remote bottoms of the Canyon. The K-3 ! How about that. I see a more ergonomic styled Elecraft with enhanced meters and nice big knobs. In kit form still but in a larger box to allow more room to populate the boards. A style more in tune with the new Elecraft amplifier. Perhaps a built in power supply as well. Classic black in color, to match the new amp, for sure ! I have often wondered if serial numbers on today's radios run sequential. Seems like they may skip numbers to make us think they sell more than they actually do. The Smoky Mountain National Park is tough. Its worth the pain though. Getting to Gatlinburg from Springer in 26 days is good time. As they say .. if you don't walk in the rain, you won't get to Maine. Many thru hikers on the trail this season.
