[Elecraft] K2 LCD dsisplay problem?
Good morning, I would like some help in resolving a problem with my K2. The rig is receiving and transmitting with no problem, but the indicator for LSB, USB, CW etc is not working. I am able to change mode ok but have to rely on my ears to tell me witch mode I am on. On the display I see one vertical bar, press mode button mode changes and the display shows two vertical bars. Is this a display fault or should I look somewhere else? [Elecraft] KX3 failure of speaker in KX3 #27**
Good Morning, I would like some help or advice to solve my KX3 speaker problem. My problem is that the speaker is silent, headphones work ok, as a workaround I am using a powered speaker. Looking at the circuit for the audio output I feel that the headphone socket is not switching back to the speaker, the speaker is ok. Due to my fingers not being as nimble as they used to be I feel that I should get someone else to do the repairs, maybe the UK agent. [Elecraft] [eelcraft] KX3 Low Volume
I have been using a Jabra powered speaker for some time now with no problems. They have a built in battery chargeable via a mini USB socket, also have blue tooth connectivity if required. They measure 5 inches wide, 2.3 inches high and 2.1 inches deep, so small enough to slip into a pocket if you are going portable in the field. I purchased mine when the built in speaker of my KX3 stopped working, the speaker is ok, I suspect it is the headphone socket failure. I don't know if these speakers are available in the USA but I would think so. At long last I have got round to assembling my KXPA100, KX3ATU and the PX3. The only slight problem that I had was with the PX3 as 79 year old fingers don't work as good as they use to. However after a thorough check to make sure all was correct, I connected it all up, power on and all worked fine. I use Windows XP Home on the shack computer and have the same effect on boot up, I do not onw a K3 but it cycles the PTT on my Elecraft K2 & KX3, also my Icom IC7000. As a matter of interest and out of curiosity I have just booted up my Raspberry Pi 2 system and it does not activate the PTT. [Elecraft] KX3 2metre module installation
Hello, Just have to say that the installation of the 2 metre module in my KX3 went very smoothly, even these 78 year old hands managed the mini co-ax connectors. However when it came to upgrading the firmware I had a small problem, the MCU 2.23 installed with no problem, but Mr Murphy stepped in on the DSP 1.30, in the middle of loading I suffered a power cut, it didn't like that one bit. Still after the power returned all went smoothly. The sensitivity is far better than my other 2 metre rigs, so thank you Elecraft for a first class product. 73 de Barry k Middleton G4DBS __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] 4 metre module (70 Mhz) module possible for the KX3
Hello Wayne, Thank you for the information on the 2 metre module for the KX3, I will be ordering one on Friday 16th. I would also be interested in a 4 Metre module as that band is getting very popular in region1. Just an idea Wayne, would it be possible to have it mounted in a seperate enclosure, so as to avoid opening up the KX3 to change bands. Just my thoughts and I realise it may not be possible for technical reasons. (Please don't call Elecraft about this yet -- we won't be set up to take orders until then.) Meanwhile, we're thinking about doing a 4-meter version. 4 meters is not available in the U.S., yet, but it is available in many countries in ITU region 1 (Europe, Africa, Middle East, etc.). For details, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4-meter_band. A KX3-4M would be identical to the 2-meter version, with about 3 watts output, a very low noise figure, and all-mode operation. It would use the same PCB, requiring only component changes. Unfortunately there isn't room for both 2- and 4-meters on one module. Any interest in a KX3-4M? 73, Wayne N6KR __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

Hello George, If it is of any help to you when I built my two K2's I used a foam rubber pad to mount all the passive components i.e. the capacitors, chokes and the loose resistors. I also used conductive foam for the transistors etc. I did this for each board and in the value order they were to be mounted on the PCB. I found that this also helped to prevent components going missing as some of the caps are very small. [Elecraft] Re K2 I/O problem
Hi Rolf, I have had this problem about a week ago, my K2/100 would not talk to HRD or K2 Remote. I checked all cables etc no problems there. However I found that I had lost the side tone on cw, I then discovered that the K2 had somehow reset the U8-4 source to the default U6-25 setting. After re-setting it to the correct U8-4 source every thing worked again with HRD and K2 remote. Hope this is of some help to you 73 de Barry G4DBS No virus found in this outgoing message.
