Re: [Elecraft] [K2] KXV60 Transverter In and Out connectors - BNC v. RCA
Thank you for your comments. You have convinced me to go with the RCAs. 73, Gary KJ7RT Sun City, AZ Fists #14460 NAQCC #3709 > __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Go for the RCAs so you can still remove the top easily. At 28MHz (practically DC - it is 10m wavelength for goodness-sake) you don't need to worry about the mismatch for this application. That is what I did - it looks neat and stops you from confusing them with the KAT2 BNCs. Re: [Elecraft] [K2] KXV60 Transverter In and Out connectors - BNC v. RCA
I used RCA connectors. Over the years I've used RCA connectors without issue up through 30 MHz, which are the frequencies involved in transverter service with the K2. Sure, there might be a little 'impedance bump' - particularly up on the higher frequencies - but it's inconsequential in this application. Ron AC7AC -Original Message- I am about to install the KXV60 in my K2 (10W) and need to make the connector decision. My preference would be the BNC connectors, but would like to know if there are any considerations beyond personal preference. Re: [Elecraft] [K2] KXV60 Transverter In and Out connectors - BNC v. RCA
I fitted a 4-way connector to the KXV60 to I could unplug the BNC connectors when I removed the top cover of the K2. I felt that BNC were more appropriate for RF connections to the XV144, particularly as the XV144 has BNC also. Gary, If I recall correctly, the BNC connectors are on the top lid, the RCAs on the lower panel. If you use the BNCs, you will have to disconnect them (unsolder) to completely remove the top cover for service. I think that is the only real difference.
