hi Don, 

thank you for the hint to the ACC connector. Well, that's easy. I only have
to ground the "power on pin". 

And @ Ed: yes the 12V sense mod is installed. (it is not a 12V sense
problem, but a real power shutoff)

Werner,

The K3 has a Remote Power ON input on the ACC connector.  See the manual 
page 44 for how it is to be used.
You might want to add a battery at the output of the power supply 
because of the unreliable power source which will allow an orderly 
shutdown of the K3 when the mains power is interrupted.

When my K3 looses power, it will not switch on itself after power is back. 

Is there a way to achieve this? 
The question is because I am thinking of an unattended use with an 
unreliable power source.
