Re: [Elecraft] K-2 and Panadaptor

2009-08-16 Thread Eric Swartz -WA6HHQ, Elecraft
I think this is definitely doable, but will require a f/w upgrade for
the K2 to add additional P3 specific commands and responses. The P3 can
easily handle the 4.915 MHz K2 IF freq. (We'll also need to offer a
simple buffered IF output mod kit for the K2 for those who have not
already brought the IF outside the K2 case.)

Anyone know what the frequency is on other radios that provide an IF
output? And what its bandwidth is? No promises, but it might be
interesting to do something in that area.

Don : Thanks for the info. I see where it is possible for the P-3 to
work with radios other than the K-3 with some modification, possibly to
the P-3 and the particular radio. Not clear. I think as a stand-alone
unit the P-3 would be of interest to me working with the K-2.

My second K-2 has the Z1 buffer amp installed for use with an LP-Pan
so I am going to wait and see if I need to buy an LP-Pan or maybe the
P-3. I may buy neither anyway, but I like to explore options. I have a
PRO 111 and find the scope very useful to identify other signals within
range. My K-2 may not need anything further and is a delight to operate.
I haven't found any use for the installed Z1 as yet. Ron KM4VX

Ron,

Yes, LP-PAN is available with an input frequency to match the K2, see
http://www.telepostinc.com/LP-PAN.html

I don't know about the adaptability of the P3 - we will have to wait
until after the weekend to get any more details on the P3. You are the
first to mention K2 compatibility.

[Elecraft] K-2 and Panadaptor

2009-08-15 Thread KM4VX

I have a second K-2 with the Z1 buffer installed and intended for use
with a panadaptor. (I hope this is the correct term. LP-PAN?) I have never
used this particular option, but am familiar with the scope in the IC 756
PRO 111 which is superb. I wonder if the panadaptor Elecraft is introducing
this weekend will be compatible with the K-2 as well as the K-3? Also, will
a separate monitor be required or will the unit include a display? Fankly,
if I wanted to control or monitor my rig with a computer I would buy the
Flex radio. If the option includes a display and is compatible with the K-2
I might be interested. Thanks. Ron
