Re: [Elecraft] Who's your favorite Elecraft Elmer?

2019-03-13 Thread KENT TRIMBLE
As Trustee for the NØSS memorial call sign, I want to thank Don Wilhelm
and Russ Boutell for remembering Tom Hammond and his Elecraft legacy, as
well as others who still revere his memory.  A more unselfishly helpful
person never walked this Earth.  I will make sure the club knows about
Don's kind words for our efforts in maintaining Tom's website material
at our monthly meeting tomorrow night.

[Elecraft] Who's your favorite Elecraft Elmer?

2019-03-12 Thread James F. Boehner MD via Elecraft
I wholeheartedly agree!

Don has helped so many with his vast knowledge and patience.

I have seen him at many Hamfests teaching the masses about Elecraft products.

His comments and answers to questions on this list go unmatched anywhere.

Those who have sent radios in to him to repair over the ages know his
commitment to Elecraft and Amateur Radio in general.

I would like to add my support to Don as my favorite Elecraft Elmer!

Don Wilhelm - I enjoy his down to earth advice that doesn't require
more than a tenth grade education to understand. Note, however, there
are many others well worth listening to also.

I belong to a couple of groups (for other equipment and OS) and I can
assure everyone - the Elecraft reflector is unique. Ask a question and
you will get an answer - without snide responses.

understands a schematic better than most folks. He’s also an experienced

One thing that defines Elecraft is an extended community comprised of builders,
operators, tinkerers, and friends. It's been gratifying to watch the breadth
and depth of this interaction over the years (mostly civilized and helpful :)

In particular, we'd like to recognize those who have stepped up to become
"Elecraft Elmers," helping get others' kits working, figuring out cabling or
software setup problems, and coaching new operators about how to make the most
of their radios' features on the air.

If you have someone in mind, please tell us who they are and how they helped.
Specific examples with short narratives would be great. We'll include as many
