There are chargers available which will do a controlled current re-charge and let you match the battery voltages. They are not cheap and not found at your local electronics emporium. As I recall, I paid about $55.00 for mine. I have one from a small German factory; it has an LCD for each battery and gives various useful info about each battery. It does give up on some but saves a lot of others. For me it was worthwhile; there are lot of AA and AAA batteries in our household besides Ham Gear (GPS Receiver, High powered camera flash, grandkid's toys, telephones, LED flashlights, etc.).
