[Elecraft] ANYONE HAVE SECRET TO ALIGNING?CONNECTING K# FRONT PANEL TO MAAIN RF BOARD
I am building my K-3 and have come to the point(p 36 in instructions) where I am attempting to mount the Front Panel. I can't seem to get it on. I'm afraid to put too much pressure for fear of breaking something. Any good ideas on this from someone who has already done this? Thanks! Hi George, Make sure the microphone socket is correctly seated. Mine was a tight fit. 73 John Petters www.traditional-jazz.com Amateur Radio Station G3YPZ ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I kept going at it my way, and finally backed off and read through it the way mentioned in the documentation (crazy idea, I know) and it went together pretty well. The key is to get the bottom single row connectors started. Just started, just barely. Then work the front panel upward a bit. Now, lots of activity with a good light / flash light, to confirm the double connectors and single connectors are lined up. Once all is well, seat the connectors further. Hope this helps. George When I put 443 together I had to take my pocket knife and ream out the mike connector hole ever so slightly. I think it was some paint that was still in the edge of the hole. Then the connector popped in without any force what so ever. Lee K0WA In our day and age it seems that Common Sense is in short supply. Hello George, I had the same problem until I studied the right-hand photograph at the top of page 37. It instructs you to remove an interfering screw (and put it back later after the front panel is mounted). When I did this, the front panel went to place easily., Please let me know if this helps. 73, John, no8v ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
