Yea, back in 1959 as a novice, I worked all over EU with a DX-20 and a single wire antenna. Yes, I could also hear the TV two doors down and the little old lady screaming at the screen. I don't think she really understood the source (her unshielded TV tuner) and maybe a little harmonic RF from me. Exactly When I was first licensed in 1971, a guy up the street waxed poetic about 1957, when he used an 11 meter AM walkie-talkie to work VK while standing in his front yard in San Diego.
