Hi Don,

Fantastic, yes, holding down 4, 5 and 6 cleared it!

Many thanks.

Regards and 73,

 Ian,

That sounds like either the menu system has gotten messed up or you have
 one or more soldering problems.

I suspect that you may have attempted to change some menu items and do
other actions when it did not work without the regulator installed.
Since this is a new build, I suggest you do a Master Reset which will
put all the menu items back at the default setting.
Hold the 4, 5 and 6 buttons in while turning power on. then wait for the
 reset to complete.

If that does not change anything, please let us know what you have
accomplished and what you now observe.

  Many thanks.

[Elecraft] K2 - first tests and some problems (serial no. 6905)

2010-06-05 Thread Ian Liston-Smith

Hi there. I suspect this may be the first of many questions and requests for
advice with my new K2...

First test (K2 manual page 43) revealed that I had stupidly omitted the U2 6V
regulator (thought missing from kit until today), so I got the 080 error
message.

Added this and did not get the 7100.00c display but 3030 with blinking A and
RIT indicators with r above XIT and sometimes a - (dash) above that, depending
on band selected.

Scrolling though the bands gives: various 3040/3028/etc frequency readings with
a 25023 and turn 1 and turn 2 appearing momentarily.

The relays are clicking with band selection and the display seems ok, although
I cannot get
ST L 040 but ST L 003 and not INP HAND only INP SCAN

One green bar at extreme right of S-meter.

Shaft encoder rate/direction and battery volts/current display are ok.

Are these related to firing it up first time without 6V U2?

What should I check?

Many thanks.
