Re: [Elecraft] K2 Phone Jack
Thanks for the comments. I solved the dilemma by replacing the phone jack, but hard wired the switch closed on the PC board. There is audio in the speaker and the headphones regardless of the phone jack status. I built up a small audio amp which I connect to the external speaker jack. If I don't want speaker audio, I turn off the amp. By the way, the amp feeds two speakers on either side of the radio desk which sorta gives me stereo. I notice the K3 has a 1/4" phone jack. And, I have a K3 on order to deliver sometime late June or early July. 73, Jim, K4ZMV, K2 #5731 Ralph Tyrrell wrote: > > wrote: > >> >> My K2's phone jack has failed for the third time. >> I've ordered two new >> jacks, but I am thinking about wiring the internal >> speaker always on and >> muting it at the external speaker jack. RE: [Elecraft] K2 Phone Jack
Is there an upgradeable fix for this problem? I'm on my 2nd jack and it's going south. I leave the headphones plugged in most all of the time now and just use the switch to select between headphones and speaker. That means a lot less wear on the jack. It is a lot more convenient than plugging and unplugging the headphones all the time anyway. 73, Drew AF2Z ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Re: [Elecraft] K2 Phone Jack
Jim; I had the same problem with my K1 (same part nr). I just wired the speaker and in parallel with the phone jack. Speaker is on all the time, When headphones are in use the volume control gets turned down. This has worked well for me. I did this about 2 years ago. 73, Ty, W1TF, K1 #1423 --- k4zmv <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > My K2's phone jack has failed for the third time. > I've ordered two new > jacks, but I am thinking about wiring the internal > speaker always on and > muting it at the external speaker jack. [Elecraft] K2 Phone Jack
My K2's phone jack has failed for the third time. I've ordered two new jacks, but I am thinking about wiring the internal speaker always on and muting it at the external speaker jack. I'm a little concerned about just opening the internal speaker line without a load for the audio amp. I could just insert a 15 ohm 2 watt resister as the load. Any observations on that approach. Thanks.
