[Elecraft] K3 Service Manual

2009-02-08 Thread Jeff Wandling W7BRS
Sorry for the rambling email earlier. Your .procmailrc filter may be
overheating already.

Uh, I too would like to chime in and add my opinion that a service manual
at a reasonable cost even, would be be valuable shack tool.

I find myself in the situation I thought I wouldn't be in for a while --
repairing my K3 or at least debugging the hardware and although I'd have
110% confidence in Gary and the rest of the K3 guru's in Aptos, the
ship-down/ship-back anxiety wouldn't be worth it _if_ I could trouble
shoot the problem partially (or even fully) myself. I've never met a SMD
that I wasn't afraid of replacing; diving in the deep end of the pool
doesn't bother me in the slightest. I just need data/information about
the thing I'm tinkering with. The schematics help, but some overlay
information about the device would complete the picture.

Something along the lines of the K2 assembly manual would be a good
start. The K2 assembly manual pointed the way at each stage and gave
testpoint data to expect. That's all I'm really asking for, in the
context of the K3 and the options for the K3.

If any amount of effort is required to assemble the Service Manual, then
maybe the request can fall back behind other pressing issues, obviously.
But now that the production run is keeping up with the demand (it seems)
and the corner is nearly turned on getting major functionality through
beta testing a Service Manual may be bubbling up the list, I hope.

Let the cascaded email thread begin, subject to Eric's KKILTHRD3 button.

[Elecraft] K3 Service Manual

2008-06-29 Thread Brett Howard
I see a lot of references to the service manual (such as when you have
an ERR TXG) is this manual just not done yet? I see no mention of it in
the manual download area.

[Elecraft] K3 Service Manual

2007-12-13 Thread Benny Aumala

The Owner`s Manual refers in many places to Service Manual.
Neither manual nor the schematics were with K3 delivery.

Schematics are downloadable on website. FB!
How about Service Manual?
If necessary, I am ready to pay for it.

By the way, I would like to see a dictionary for
e-mail abbreviations like FYI. Are those accepted as
official combinations e.g. in CW-traffic?
I think we all accept to use plain english on this kind
of public reflector. It might not be correct to discuss in germany,
italian, french, finnish language or american abbreviations, might it?

AFAIK, the Service Manual is not finished, which is why the Schematics
were (pre-) released on the website. You should be able to find the
mail from Elecraft about this in the reflector archives.
