Re: [Elecraft] K3 kit builders start your nuts ...
It's called a Menda 35120 Nut Starter and is available from HMC Electronics for $1.80 Here is a link: http://www.hmcelectronics.com/cgi-bin/scripts/product/2240-0021/ Fits nut sizes #2 thru #6. I still have two Heathkit nut starters from 40 years ago and they still work FB! Wouldn't be without one. 73, Frank - W6NEK Windy Dankoff KM5Q wrote: Start them with a Heathkit nut starter! It's a little plastic tube just soft enough to stretch over the two main sizes of nuts. Makes it SO much easier to start those little buggers. You'll need to find an Old Master who saved them from the good old days. Get on his good side, and MAYBE he'll give you a nut starter he saved from the good old days. Then, promise to save it for the next generation. Thanks Fred. Windy KM5Q ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. A blob of Coax Seal at the end of a shaft (dowel, screwdriver, pen casing, etc.) will also do the job. 73, Drew AF2Z On Fri, 02 May 2008 23:26:58 -0700 (PDT), Frank - W6NEK wrote: It's called a Menda 35120 Nut Starter and is available from HMC Electronics for $1.80 Here is a link: http://www.hmcelectronics.com/cgi-bin/scripts/product/2240-0021/ Fits nut sizes #2 thru #6. I found my collection of them worked nicely. Old Master? No, I just built a number of Heathkits in the late '60s and the '70s. Kept me out of even more mischief. It seems like only yesterday. Kevin.
