Hi, Jim- Th reason for the larger enclosure is that a lot of ops prefer to remote the KPA100 together with the KAT100-2. This of course requires the larger area afforded by an EC2 external enclosure which can be purchased separately. The KAT100-2 kit slips inside the lower part of the EC2 enclosure and includes front and back panels. The KPA100 fits in the upper portion, its heatsink making up the top panel of the enclosure, just as it does when it is integrated into the K2. The self-contained KAT100-1 comes with standard feet, but a bail can be ordered. I use this bail on my KAT100-1. Since the K2 is placed directly atop the KAT100-1, it makes the bail of the K2 superfluous.
