Re: [Elecraft] KPA-1500: Strange Symptoms on FT8
"My Winkeyer has settings for both lead and tail time, and so does N1MM+. WSJT-X does not appear to have these variables." WSJT-X has provision for changing the delay between assertion CAT PTT and onset of audio (settings/advanced/miscellaneous). The delay between end of audio and CAT PTT release is not adjustable but is close to a second. WSJT-X has no control of either of these delays if VOX keying is used. 73, Andy, k3wyc __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com

My Winkeyer has settings for both lead and tail time, and so does N1MM+. WSJT-X does not appear to have these variables. 73, Pete N4ZR On 1/14/2024 11:04 AM, Lou Laderman wrote: Pete, your issue may only be on the back end of the transmission, and adjusting the delay time for the exciter to kick in is on the front end to prevent a hot transmission before the amp kicks in. I don’t know if the back end can be corrected on your exciter, or somewhere in the kpa1500’s menus. I don’t have the issue you reported and haven’t looked through the settings on my K4 or kpa1500. If all else fails, try posting on the kpa1500 groups.io, of ask Elecraft support directly. Pete, have you tried increasing the transmit delay between your exciter and the amp? [Elecraft] KPA-1500: Strange Symptoms on FT8
I don't have the same equipment as you but I experienced a very similar problem that I initially thought was caused by a problem with my KPA500.However, when I looked at the output of my TS-590S with a scope and spectrum analyzer, I found that it was emitting out of band spurii at the end of each transmission. The signal was clean before keying ended. The problem was only seen on 10 m and 6 m. My KAT500 reported a high SWR at end of transmission because the spike frequency was way off my SteppIR tuned frequency. My TS-590S problem was caused a failed capacitor that changed the rise time of a pin diode bias signal and disrupted switching between TX and RX. It may be a good idea to have a close look at your exciter output signal when TX ends. 73, Andy, k3wyc __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
