Bob,

Yes, there is a fix, and all kits for the past (almost) 6 years have it
- it is a #6 internal tooth lockwasher that you can put on the
thumbscrew instead of the flat washer - see the KXPD1 errata - this is
why you need to read errata sheets :-)

2007-03-21 Thread Chris Kantarjiev
I don't have this problem with my KX1, but if I ever develop it,
I suspect that the first thing I'll try is a nylon or fiber washer
under the thumbscrew. This is a reasonable attempt at a non-marking
lockwasher... and the next thing is to try an extra thin flat
washer (made from shim stock) plus a conventional lockwasher.
The flat washer will protect the aluminum.

Hi cousin Bob

Another idea is a blast from the past: it was common to use a very thin
piece of rubber band inserted before the screw. It's a bit fiddly to get it
in but it worked well in old IF transformers.

Any ideas on keeping the paddle screw tight?

Mine seems to work loose easily, Locktite or similar
would work but I want to remove it.

Try liquid soap; it can set fairly hard but not too hard to undo. As a matter
of fact there are several grades of Loctite but it would be a waste for just
one application. Hellerine oil also works, but, again a waste to buy a bottle.

You might try beeswax. It can act as a reusable loctite. Some bicycle
wheel builders use it to prevent spokes from unwinding from their nipples.

Blue Locktite is not permanent, that should do the trick.
