Re: [Elecraft] KX1 paddle fix?
Bob, Yes, there is a fix, and all kits for the past (almost) 6 years have it - it is a #6 internal tooth lockwasher that you can put on the thumbscrew instead of the flat washer - see the KXPD1 errata - this is why you need to read errata sheets :-) 73, Don W3FPR On 5/4/2012 3:24 PM, Bob Cutter wrote: Mine works loose quickly, is there a fix? 72, Bob KIØG __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] KX1 paddle fix?
I don't have this problem with my KX1, but if I ever develop it, I suspect that the first thing I'll try is a nylon or fiber washer under the thumbscrew. This is a reasonable attempt at a non-marking lockwasher... and the next thing is to try an extra thin flat washer (made from shim stock) plus a conventional lockwasher. The flat washer will protect the aluminum. 73 de chris K6DBG ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. Re: [Elecraft] KX1 paddle fix?
Hi cousin Bob Another idea is a blast from the past: it was common to use a very thin piece of rubber band inserted before the screw. It's a bit fiddly to get it in but it worked well in old IF transformers. Re: [Elecraft] KX1 paddle fix?
Try liquid soap; it can set fairly hard but not too hard to undo. As a matter of fact there are several grades of Loctite but it would be a waste for just one application. Hellerine oil also works, but, again a waste to buy a bottle. Some bicycle wheel builders use it to prevent spokes from unwinding from their nipples. Blue Locktite is not permanent, that should do the trick. 73, Al W6GBG -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bob Cutter Sent: Sunday, March 18, 2007 12:21 PM To: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Elecraft] KX1 paddle fix?
