2011-01-03 Thread Leigh L. Klotz Jr WA5ZNU

Julian,

Thanks for reporting this. I was on vacation and didn't notice. Elecraft
doesn't manage or run the Nabble archive.

If anybody has more questions, please contact me off-list; le...@wa5znu.org
or my callsign WA5ZNU at the usual arrl.net address will work.

I contacted Nabble and they restarted a server process which had somehow
failed. Mail from the past couple of days is now flowing back and forth FB.

As far as I can tell, all messages which originated from people posting via
the Nabble web pages were sent to all Elecraft subscribers; the "Pending"
notice was erroneous. However, messages coming in from the mailing list
were delayed in Nabble and are trickling in now.

(If you think about it, you can see these are related; if Nabble never
received the message you posted, it didn't know the post was a success.)

If anybody has questions, please contact me off-list; le...@wa5znu.org or my
callsign WA5ZNU at the usual arrl.net address will work.

2011-01-02 Thread W5UXH

For some days, I have felt like the postings on Nabble are "long delayed". I
receive the digest emails but prefer to read postings on line. I look at
the list of subjects in the digest and then try to find them on Nabble.
That used to work fine for me, but now I end up having to look through the
digest since I can't find the postings on Nabble until much later.

I have also noticed the "have not been accepted" messages for somewhile now
on some postings. That certainly seems strange.

Nabble appears to have adopted a modified form of URL for its reflector

Re: [Elecraft] Nabble, missing messages

2009-09-21 Thread Leigh L. Klotz Jr WA5ZNU

Knut,
I set up the additional archives for the convenience of easy web searches
and for easy topic sorting.

Like the marc.info, mail-archive.com, and Google Groups archives, Nabble is
a free convenient reader that provides web access to the official Elecraft
mailing list hosted by QTH.net. None of these are supported by Elecraft, as
only the QTH.net archive is the official list archive. Only two allow
posting: the Google Groups reader and Nabble. Nabble also offers a
convenient "bboard-like" way of organizing topics into forums and threads.

Unfortunately, Nabble is sometimes buggy, and has in recent days been
failing to send messages on to the QTH.net mail server. (Or possibly,
QTH.net is rejecting the messages, it it does sometimes even for
regularly-sent email messages.) Indications are that Nabble has fixed this
problem, but I'm not certain.

I'm sorry to hear that there are messages on the official QTH.net list which
aren't in the Nabble archive; again I ascribe this to a Nabble bug. If the
problems persist, you can also use Google Groups to reply, or you can
configure your browser to start an email program for mailto: links, and use
QTH.net or marc.info or mail-archive.com for reading and reply through your
desktop email program.

However, I did a quick search on "14.314" and found a message from yesterday
about the net frequency.
  http://n2.nabble.com/forum/Search.jtp?forum=365791&local=y&query=14.314
Is this the message you were looking for?

Please feel free to contact me off-list if you want to have a more detailed
discussion that you think wouldn't be useful for the list.

[Elecraft] Nabble, missing messages

2009-09-20 Thread ab2tc

I am using Nabble, but finding that the list of topics (threads) in the
"topics" section is rather incomplete. Am I the only one having this problem
and if so what am I doing wrong? I read the list using marc.info but if I
want to reply I want to use Nabble for convenience and lots of times the
message isn't there. Yes, I know there is sometimes a delay, but that is not
the only problem.

Example: Nowhere on Nabble can I find the recent messages regarding today's
SSB net and the QSY down to 14.314. I have been wanting to support this move
as I too have a carrier on 14.318 (3x4.772MHz TV color burst) with a
resulting 2kHz whistle on 14.316. The manual notch does a fair job of
reducing, but not eliminating it as the interference is rather wide and
"dirty".

[Elecraft] Nabble users please note

2009-09-14 Thread Leigh L. Klotz, Jr WA5ZNU
Nabble is having difficulty posting messages to the Elecraft list.

Reading the list via Nabble is working fine, but posting is not. The
problem is somewhere between Nabble and QTH.net, which hosts the
Elecraft list.

Please avoid using Nabble to post messages to the Elecraft list until
this is resolved.

It's because Nabble is broken. It should never have been allowed
to be connected to this list in the first place.

[Elecraft] Nabble

2009-03-23 Thread Radio Amateur N5GE
It appears that Nabble is not sending well formed HTML when users
reply to posts from Nabble.

Here's what I get from Nabble

For a major change I can be very patient.  Thank you Wayne!

Yes.
Thanks for your patience on the 10-Hz issue; it's going to
require a
major change to the firmware.

Found the culprit: Firefox add-on "NoScript" was blocking some of the code
of the Nabble page.
After allowing all scripts on this page to run, everything was fine again.

I am accessing Nabble with Firefox 3.07.
Since a couple of days the page is totally unreadable.
All topics titles are shown as "Nabble", and none of the links works.
Any workarounds (except using another browser)?

Yes, I'd prefer to have the topics view as well. I think the categories will
be useful for those who don't have a K3, but as I have a K2 and other
Elecraft products as well I prefer to see the lot, in case I can answer a
question relating to them.

Well I certainly noticed the change and at the moment am not that convinced

2009-03-03 Thread Leigh L. Klotz Jr WA5ZNU

Thank you Kristinn. It's not as great as it looks, though, because
messages that are sent by email (not from Nabble) show up in the main
topics lists, so you still have to look there. However, as more people
use Nabble and post through the K2 page there, more stuff will show up
there.

Re: [Elecraft] Nabble: new look and feel (if you read the Elecraft list on the web)

2009-03-03 Thread TF3KX

Hi Leigh:

The new Nabble web interface is great! Having the K2 and its accessories, I
have been feeling sort of lost among all the K3 messages on the Nabble page
- most of which are not designated as K3 subjects up front. Scanning
through the K2 section now I just found a few useful messages that I had
previously missed. The new setup appears to be well thought out, easy to
navigate through and definitely a big improvement.

re-registering in the (forlorn) hope it would stop doing that, and I guess
that's why you did, too.

You could try unregistering with the elecraft list at qth.net and then
re-subscribing through the nabble nag screen.

If that works, it might be good for others to try.

The same thing happened to me (not registering the wrong address, but the
message saying my address was in use.) Just ignore it. You can still post to
the reflector using your original address.

There appears to be a problem with Nabble in that it doesn't remember that
you are registered with the reflector, so it keeps on putting up this
message that you have to register each time you try to post. I tried
re-registering in the (forlorn) hope it would stop doing that, and I guess
that's why you did, too.

[Elecraft] Nabble identity help please

2008-08-23 Thread KM5Q
I tried to reply to a message through Nabble. It asked me to re-
register. I accidentally did so using my usual address, not my ham-
call address that I use in these matters. It has my reply waiting for
moderator, saying I'm not registered in the Elecraft group.

So I went back and tried to change my km5q email address. It said that
address is already in use! -- Yes, by me. So I seem to be registered
twice, but I don't know how to reply as the Elecraft-registered entity.

Anyone know just what to do?

John,

I, too, suffered this apparent loss of access to Nabble2 without any changes
locally. I found that I only needed to click on the Elecraft link on the
upper left corner to bring out the full forum listing.

Better still, Nabble could be embedded in the Elecraft site so it appears to
be part of it. This page http://www.nabble.com/help/Answer.jtp?id=36
explains how it's done.

Nabble is now on new servers with an updated forum software:
http://n2.nabble.com/Elecraft-f365791.html

I suspect the link on the Elecraft site has not been updated.
(ps. posting this via Nabble myself, it works fine but sometimes doesn't
thread posts properly).

[Elecraft] Nabble 2

2008-06-17 Thread G4ILO

If you use Nabble to read this reflector then you'll probably have noticed
that Nabble 2 has just been released. I'm not sure when the Elecraft list
will move over, but when it does you will need to re-register with Nabble 2.
(Use the same email address you are registered with the reflector, so that
any postings you make are accepted by the reflector.)

Hopefully the new version will fix the broken threading that has been
apparent with the old one. You can even upload a picture to appear next to
your postings! With a snippet of code the Nabble forum can be embedded in a
web page, so perhaps it will be possible to access it through the Elecraft
website in the near future?
