Hello Group, We all enjoy our kit building experience from Elecraft. Are there any kit manufacturers of Hi-Fi audio amplifier (or related audio products) in US? Back around 1955 or so, I built an Altec-Lansing audio amplifier from a kit. Although that company had a pretty good reputation at the time, this device wasn't anything to boast about. Yes. That WOULD be interesting. Hi, All I know about these kits is that I was reading about them recently, they were favorably reviewed, and I saved the company link. I home-brewed a (tube) stereo amplifier from a Dynaco circuit using their transformers in the early 1960s. It was first class, but not up to the physical standards of Elecraft! Be aware that class-D (digital) audio amplifiers like this, in combination with long loudspeaker wires, don't always go so well with amateur radio. Sometimes they radiate well into the lower short-wave range. Unless of course, you turn off the stereo whenever you turn on the radio ... A low-pass filter on the output works well, and is easy to construct if the power is reasonable! A 3-pole Chebyshev filter works well.
