[Elecraft] OT: Wide digital QRM on 17m

2013-09-14 Thread d...@lightstream.net
Does anyone have any idea what the ~20KHz wide digital mode QRM is at the
bottom of 17m? It extends from about 18.054 to 18.076, and is a solid S9
strength here, and appears to be coming from Europe.

I wasn't sure if it was local or not, but just had a cw QSO w/ an op in
Spain who said it was very strong there as well.

If so it is the Cyprus based UK OTH radar. It visits us a lot.

Hi Bill,

Yes -- that is exactly what it looks like on my P3 as well. It put a quick
end to a QSO I was having a couple of mornings ago.

Thanks for the info.

British electromagnetic weapon of mass destruction (aka over the horizon
radar) from ZC4.
