The item arrived promptly (the postal code probably helped to point to the right street). Checking the packing slip I saw the same street name error as in the confirmation email, the wrong callsign, and the wrong (but still valid) phone number. Looking back at the original order, the phone number error was mine. I used the secondary number at the house. The other issue was a minor one with a small hole in the plastic back of the mini kit. A couple of parts were poking out the bottom of the bag. An inventory of the parts showed that nothing was missing but a part or two could easily have been lost/misplaced due to the hole in the bag. Overall, the problems were minor. It just shows that even the best of companies still has room for improvement. Shipping labels and confirmation should be part of the same order system to avoid errors in the paperwork and confirmation email. -- Cheers! Though it is certainly not true that they can do no wrong it is true that they set the standard much higher than many other groups - and among several of their competitors. With Elecraft Office I had two times excellent experience, last month at Dayton I ordered my P3 and I arranged to be delivered at the hotel one day before my arrival (I arranged to be delivered before my arrival to be on the safe side just in case). So in my case the delivery method was little bit complicated...shipping address different to billing address plus to a hotel over UPS and he service was AAA+. Same when I ordered my K3 around Xmas last year... I arranged with Ele Office to be delivered not in Canada but in US to a friend that I visited for few days on that time, AAA+ serivice also.One tip that I alway do when I have to arrange shipping over the phone (I am not a native English spreaker so I learned my lessons long time ago)...use ham radio phonetic alphabet when spelling address and kindly ask them to repete on the phone the address one more time to doublecheck all is ok. Also to be on the safe side one day before they suppose to ship product do a follow-up with them. As far as I undarstand Elecraft is not a 10.000 employee company, I am not sure how many employee are working in Shipping Dpt but considering the volume of sales I bet this support department is understaffed and overloaded. I am looking only on SN only K3...in range of 7K so I bet at least 20 orders/day in different forms and quantities (my guestimate) and in some ocations like new line e.g kx3 launch can go over 50. Amen, brother! To a man - and woman - the Elecraft staff are always efficient, effective, fast, and friendly. Even though a few people are very impatient about when their new widget will ship, it is amazing to watch the process unfold and see, in the example of the KX3, how a prototype of a very complex and bleeding-edge device turns into a shipping product in about a year that has such a low failure/defect rate that certain larger competitors should blush. Getting one advanced new radio working well is hard... scaling up volume and getting hundreds of them out the door and working well when they leave is quite another matter! The vast majority of us (99.9%) are VERY thankful that Elecraft sticks to their guns and does things the right way, not the quick I want it now way. I don't know how Wayne, Eric, and other participating Elecraft staffers stay so calm and polite in the face of some of the posts we see here, and especially as are seen on the KX3 Yahoo group. To a man - and woman - the Elecraft staff are always efficient, effective, fast, and friendly. Even though a few people are very impatient about when their new widget will ship, it is amazing to watch the process unfold and see, in the example of the KX3, how a prototype of a very complex and bleeding-edge device turns into a shipping product in about a year that has such a low failure/defect rate that certain larger competitors should blush. Getting one advanced new radio working well is hard... scaling up volume and getting hundreds of them out the door and working well when they leave is quite another matter! The vast majority of us (99.9%) are VERY thankful that Elecraft sticks to their guns and does things the right way, not the quick I want it now way. I don't know how Wayne, Eric, and other participating Elecraft staffers stay so calm and polite in the face of some of the posts we see here, and especially as are seen on the KX3 Yahoo group. HI all I totally agree with Robert. I have personally dealt with two office personnel; my professional opinion is they are EXCELLENT. I doubt you will find any better. I see Lisa missed posting that our Aptos HQ would be closed Monday and Tuesday, 12/24-25, for the holiday. We're giving our staff (several of whom were in the plant this weekend working on K3s) a well needed 2 days off. Our Elecraft office crew is now back on line following the 5 day holiday break (from 12/23 through 12/27). We working hard to ship all of the orders received during this period today and tomorrow, along with any spare parts requests.
