Re: [Elecraft] P span retention

2022-08-12 Thread Fred Jensen
This was discussed at length several years ago.  My memory is becoming
increasingly write-only and I don't remember the exact outcome of those
exchanges, but I think I recall that the SPAN is preserved, however the
center frequency depended on how the band change occurred.  I do know
that once I understood how it was designed, mine has stayed stable.

I have the span "sticking" at 30 kHz when I change bands, but the center
frequency is changing with the P3 in fixed-tune mode.

I've tried the macros stored in the P3 and, just now, macros in VA2FSQ's
Win4K3Suite, but the center frequency doesn't stick.
https://va2fsq.com/

For instance, I want to see 7020-7050 with the center frequency of 7035. I set
that either with the buttons on the right side of the P3 or a macro, change
bands to 80 and then go back to 40, and the center frequency has changed to
7040, so the span is 7025 to 7055.

It's not a huge problem, of course, just a bit frustrating.

I also recall this problem. I am thinking that if you set them by a CAT command
they might not be remembered. You need to make a small change manually to cause
it to save them. I might be all wet, but it's easy to try it and see.
