Re: [Elecraft] P3SVGA signal as a separate window with VGA2USB?

2011-12-20 Thread Tom Azlin N4ZPT
Now that is an interesting idea Jan. I would indeed be interested in
streaming the P3 video as there are times several of us in training nets
are trying to describe to another ham how their signal looks. As it is
I take photos, download them and email after the fact.

Would have to work work the rest of the broadcast part as have never
sent out video.

Re: [Elecraft] P3SVGA signal as a separate window with VGA2USB?

2011-12-20 Thread Jan, SM5FQQ
I found this new card, PCI-express, from AVerMedia, Game Broadcaster HD.
See
http://www.avermedia-usa.com/AVerTV/Upload/ProductImages/C127+Datasheet1202.pdf

"They have stated US availability as late December 2011/January 2012 and the
unofficial pricing is $170."

It also perhaps opens for a possibility to broadcast the signal on Internet?
To give friend an opportunity to watch his transmitted signal!

Re: [Elecraft] P3SVGA signal as a separate window with VGA2USB? (frame grabber...)

2011-12-19 Thread David Gilbert

I'm pretty sure most frame grabbers are supplied with their own software
to do just that. I think the bigger issue would be what kind of screen
resolution you'd end up with. You'd need one with essentially HDTV quality.

Re: [Elecraft] P3SVGA signal as a separate window with VGA2USB? (frame grabber...)

2011-12-19 Thread David Ferrington, M0XDF
My only problem with a dedicated screen is no room for anything really large,
but I might be able to get something around 15" behind the K3.
I already have a 24" iMac (personal) and two 19" screens (business connected to
PC) on my desk and can't figure out how I could get more desk space...

hmmm, a thought, switch the lounge and the study - hmmm station manager needs a
BIG xmas present :-)

I too will be interested in developments around this idea.

That's interesting, especially for use with my Mac. I've asked the vendor the
question.
I would think using the higher ratio grabber would probably be required.

[Elecraft] P3SVGA signal as a separate window with VGA2USB? (frame grabber...)

2011-12-19 Thread John Ragle
Jan...

Your post is a very interesting one. Thank you! It looks to me like
the hard step will be "windowing" the frame that has been "grabbed."
Since you have obviously been following the P3SVGA thread, you know of
my interest in a windowed version of the P3 output. Many others have
written me privately (probably so as not to antagonize Elecraft), very
interested in the same idea. I already run 2 monitors (17", 24") on my

comfortable option. Please keep me (us) abreast of this idea...

[Elecraft] P3SVGA signal as a separate window with VGA2USB?

2011-12-19 Thread Jan, SM5FQQ
Is it possible to use a VGA2USB device ,external frame grabber, connected to
your computer and to show the P3-signal as separate window on your monitor?
See http://www.vgacapture.com/

If it is possible does anyone know of a software to use to generate the
separate window?
