Hi Mark, It best to join FISTS and get a membership number. The number is good for life even if you subscribe for only a year. This way you can CQ with anyone nearby on frequency. 14.058 and 14.060 are only guidelines. Activity can be plus or minus due to propagation, RFI, ongoing QSOs, etc. At his QTH he may hear something on 14.058 that you can't hear, so its an unusuable frequency for him. FISTS is really a nice group of people. Remember that during the QRP foxhunts we try to take up from 7.030 all the way up to 7.050, so we don't stick to our one gentleman's agreement frequancy either. ;0)
If you want to get Worked All States with your Rockmites, having a FIST number can be really beneficial.
