Gang, Chas, W1CG has provided some excellent info about baluns and their usage.
He is entirely too modest to mention it, but he has done much practical and theoretical investigation with balun usage under the conditions being discussed. He even resorted to the old tried and true calorimetric method of measuring the loss values he quoted! His work is documented in an excellent article -the NJQRP Homebrewer #8 published in April 2002. Photos of balun construction and his test setup can be found at http://www.njqrp.org/qhbextra/8/8d.html And as Charles stated, the balun details are presented at: http://www.njqrp.org/balun/index.html It is an excellent well documented and effective design by Chas that can easily be duplicated by the average homebrewer. Yes, you *can* try this yourself at home! You don't have to be a trained professional. 72/73, Joe E., N2CX _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
