Re: [Elecraft] Watt Meter Behavior
Here, LP-100 shows 130W for the first few seconds when K3 is set to 100W on SSB only. It seems to do it only after being turned on and during the first transmission. Seemed to have been gone and coming with various releases. No big deal here as my amp is 2 x 3-500Z. Ignacy Jim - W6VAR wrote: My watt meter seems to behave strangely in SSB. I've run all the calibrations and have it hooked to the Elecraft W1 watt meter and 50 ohm dummy load. When set for 100 watts, I get 100 watts on both the K3 and the W1 on CW key down. On SSB, the K3 meter regularly exceeds 100 watts, pegging the 120 lines while the W1 peaks out at 100 watts. I've noticed this for several revision of firmware. I also just downloaded verson 2.8 and tried setting the SMTR PK to ON, but the peak reading doesn't seem to work anymore. Anyone else have this experience? [Elecraft] Watt meter Mini modules
Go to digikey or mouser and get panel mount LED's or sockets, and just extend the leads from the module to the LED's on the panel. They also have LED assemblies that have multiple LED's, just mix and match to get the number needed. As for me, I just use 8mm tape cases to mount my mini-modules in. The are easy to work with, protect the module from damage, and stack easily. Mine are clear, so I can monitor LED's with the lid closed. I have a noise generator, XG2 signal generator, two-tone generator, RS232-TTL adapter, etc mounted in them. Wayne and Eric, keep 'em coming. You two are awesome. [Elecraft] Watt meter
OK, I can understand wanting a good reasonably accurate watt meter. I can even see why there would be interest ina QRPp meter... But can someone please explain to me spending $1500 for a watt meter? Re: [Elecraft] Watt meter
Not when there are such fine QRP capable meter kits out there. For a lot less bucks. Re: [Elecraft] Watt meter
I own the Alpha (87A) but instead I purchased the LP-100 digital watt meter kit by N8LP. Just as accurate, at 1/5th the price, and it will match the looks of my Alpha even better! Got to love the sexy PLED Display ;-) Frank - W6NEK Larry N8LP wrote: Because it matches your Alpha? ;-) Larry N8LP J F wrote: OK, I can understand wanting a good reasonably accurate watt meter.
