Re: [Elecraft] Yamaha CM500/PPT Headset
You can still use the CM500 phones. Just push the boom mic up and out of the way. Plug in only the CM500 phones plug and plug the MH3 in the MIC jack. Ron AC7AC -Original Message- I did order the mic MH3. But I am sure when I am home, the cats and wife would rather not hear the chatter. So therefore why the need for a headphone I am so new that 'I don't know what I don't know' So I need a 'pigtail' adapter and a pTT cable/switch I don't want to wait a second when I get the KX3, which I would if I don't figure this out and am stuck at home and have the 'chatter restriction' (IE cats/wife) ;-) __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] Yamaha CM500/PPT Headset
This is not an elegant solution, but I do use my Yamaha CM500 most of the time. I have it plugged into the back of the K3. My MH2 microphone is still plugged into the front, and I just use the "push to talk" switch on the MH2, even when I'm using the CM500. Of course, a simple switch could be created, but this took no effort and isn't all that bad an alternative. Re: [Elecraft] Yamaha CM500/PPT Headset
A monaural (two-conductor) 3.5 mm mic plug will work with the KX3. That's how the ProSet is used with it. One disables the PTT function (otherwise plugging in the mono plug will put the KX3 in xmit). You can use VOX or tap the XMIT switch on the KX3 to switch between tx and rx. Ron AC7AC -Original Message- Actually it does not matter. No adapter is included with the K3 or KX3. The KX3 will include a mic plug you can wire yourself. It is a 3.5mm 4 conductor plug. There is a menu item to enable or disable the up/dn button signals provided by the MH3 mic. I connected a standard 3 conductor audio cable that breaks down to two RCA connectors and use that to interface my CM500 and a PTT switch. 73 Greg AB7R On 2/19/2012 11:15 AM, va3...@gmail.com wrote: > Alright. > > I have a question about the CM500 and PTT > > If I want to use PTT is an adapter already included with the package or do I need to by it.
