If you are feeding audio from the sound card directly to the K3, you can 
use VOX to make the K3 transmit.  No need to push XMIT button.

Oscar,

Turn on VOX and adjust the VOX gain until it transmits reliably.
There are circuits for the one transistor keying circuit that can be 
effective if you prefer to use PTT instead of VOX.

You don't need a dedicated interface to run digital modes with a K3.  
All you need are simple audio cables between your computer sound card 
input and output and the K3 input and output, and simple chassis bonding 
between the computer and the K3.   See
