Hi Harald; Always post your serial #, it really helps narrow down problems. If older, the 28pin and 5 pin headers on the RF board going to the front panel were tin and get oxidized. Change them to gold. To confirm this is the problem; remove the two bottom bolts for the FP, pry gently in the two slots to move the FP out on the pins a small bit then shove the FP back on. That will temporarily clear poor connections. [Elecraft] K3 - ERR DSE
Hello YLs and Oms, I am still struggling with my K3 and the ERR DSE. In rare cases I can switch on K3 completely and it runs stable. That let me assume, that the startup of µC, e.g. DSP, is not working correctly. Do you have any further hints to find out where the issue is located? Harald; What is the serial # of the K3? If older, did you change the P30 and P35 front panel pins (to RF board) to gold?. If you have a sub receiver, make sure it is enabled and then check FW revisions, if the AUX DSP board has mismatched FW, you can get ERR DSE. Dear All, the issue seems to be intermittent, simple disassembly/assembly of DSP-board did not help, but switch on/off sometimes "awakes" DSP. To don and all others, I didnt even have to call or mail K3support but I have the response already. I have reloaded the firmware now on MC 5.56 the DSP is the same but got reloaded anyway. The problem would seem to be overwork of the CPU and this seems to fit with my recollection that it only seems to occur when I have the pc connected. The response from Gary was:- * That error can occur if there are a lot of things going on at the same time, such as CAT control is being used with a computer and NR or NB are enabled. It is a report of excessive traffic to/from the K3 MCU. Tony, ERR DSE says that there was a missing echo from a DSP command - see page 68 in the K3 manual. The first level of "fix" is to reload the DSP1 (and DSP2 firmware if applicable). [Elecraft] K3 ERR DSE
Hi All, Some weeks ago now I installed the 5.54 MCU beta to use with the K-POD I have not had any problems until the last couple of days when I intermittently get a ERR DSE E 04004C. Switching off and restarting the K3 with the power switch clears the fault and then the K3 works perfectly normally. There are several questions I would like answers to if anyone has any ideas. Is there a known cause to this problem? Is there a fix if it is known even if its on the todo list. Is this the sign of a problem starting? What does the E 04004C mean? No luck with any of these actions. Any help would be great. [Elecraft] [K3] ERR DSE message
I have suddenly started to get an intermittent ERR DSE message on my K3 - the main display shows E0401E2. It occurs about once a day on average I guess. I have reloaded the DSP firmware as recommended but it has not cured this problem. I recently added a P3 with P3SVGA - it is all working fine. The power for the P3 is not taken from the K3. However the error has only started since the P3 was added, so I suspect something to do with this. The obvious change to the K3 is a change from 9,600 Bd to 38,400 for the P3. The PC, SteppIR controller and SPE 1K-FA all run at 9,600 and connect to the P3 PC connector. It all seems ok. Has anyone else seen this? I would appreciate any help. Don, I had a similar problem when installing the k3DVR. Nothing tried made any sense. So I de-installed the DVR and re-installed it and it worked! [Elecraft] k3 err dse
i just installed the k3dvr and now i am getting an error message of ERR DSE. in the manuel it suggest to reload the dsp which i have tried to do but with no luck it says the " DSP1 VERIFICATION FALIED.
