It does not drop characters with shorter strings. Thank you for looking
into this,

Hi Jussi,

This is most likely a bug.  I thought this was fixed some time ago. I'll look
into it. Try programming a shorter message in the memory and see if  it still
drops any characters.

tnx,

Hi,

I am having problems with the k3util program & programming CW memories
on linux. I have programmed Bank 1/M1 by keying with a paddle as:

CQ CQ CQ DE AA6KJ AA6KJ AA6KJ CQ CQ CQ DE AA6KJ AA6KJ AA6KJ K

Then I enter k3util and use Edit CW memories and I see Bank1/M1 as:

CQ CQ CQ DE AA6KJ AA6KJ AA6KJ CQ CQ CQ DE AA6KJ AA6KJ AA6K   K

Note that J is missing from the last occurrence of my call sign. This
happens consistently every time.
If I save the memory at this point by clicking on save then I really
have a missing J in the K3 memory as well.

This is not specific to using M1 or the string length. I see the same
behavior with M2 with:

CQ CQ DX DX DE AA6KJ AA6KJ AA6KJ CQ CQ DX DX DE AA6KJ AA6K  AA6KJ K

Now the J is missing from the second last occurrence of my call sign. If
I use a really short string, for example, just my call sign once, there
is no problem.

I though that this might be an rs232 transfer issue so I tried lowering
the transfer rate down to 9600 (from 38400)
but no change. I am using a usb based rs232 adapter and K3util version
1.12.3.28. Also, everything else seems to be working just fine (test
communications and other functions).

Any clues what is going on?

Thanks,

It does not help. If I enter it once from the keyboard correctly and then
check back again, it will show the missing letter problem. Thus I can
set the memories OK (with k3util) but I cannot edit them properly.

Just type in the fields in K3Util what you want to send via cw.

Using a key or paddle to set is not necessary.
