[Elecraft] microHam CW keyer

2007-01-09 Thread Chuck Guenther
I'm now working on the KIO2 kit for my K2. I've used both the K1EL WinKey and
a microHam micro Keyer with other rigs and like these products very much.
Since my K2 is CW only (and will stay that way), I'm thinking of getting the
microHam CW keyer for use with the K2.

The microHam website indicates the CW keyer is compatible with the K2/100, and
there is no mention of just the K2. Is anyone else using the microKeyer with
the QRP version of the K2 ? I don't see why this wouldn't work, provided of
course, the K2 has the KIO2 interface installed.

[Elecraft] MicroHAM CW Keyer

2006-04-21 Thread Mike Harris
G'day,

Been looking at Winkey but being short of serial ports I am leaning
towards the USB MicroHAM CW Keyer. Any comments out there in K2 land
about this unit?

Regards,

Mike VP8NO

p.s. Thanks to all for comment about the KX1 "boots". I might just be
heading out for a longish holiday in far away places next year and a KX1
could be useful to put in the hand luggage.

[Elecraft] microHAM CW Keyer

2005-10-26 Thread Andrew Catanzaro
I purchased a microHAM CW Keyer and have had instant success with it connected
to the K2/100 and KAT100.
Although there is a dedicated cable for the K2, there was no K2 in the software
radio pull-down menu. I selected
the Kenwood TS-2000 and changed the baud to 4000. Both VFO's and the mode show
up in the microHAM
Router software and in my logging program. The keyer is just excellent with
the best Morse I've ever heard
coming out of a computer. It seems to have the excellent manual keying
characteristics of my previously favorite
keyer, the Idiom Press CMOS 4, but it is far superior in being RF proof. I
have had problems with the CMOS 4
locking up when operating 100 watts with a vertical wire right outside my
operating position. The microHAM keyer
doesn't mind this environs at all. There is no issue with RS-232 connectivity.

It will work. The KIO2 is the same as the IO in the KPA100.

I use a K1EL Winkey on a USB to Serial cable - works fine with Logger32
and WrongLog.

Great for laptops that don't have LPT for keying!
