[Elecraft] Mini-Modules
I gladly welcome the new mini modules, particularly the step attenuator. It doesn't bother me in the slightest that they are not encased. I've noticed others have put a few of the kits in an Altoids tin. I just toss them in a drawer when I'm through with them. I have a whole collection. To me, they are indispensable. I like the fact that they are small, self contained; self powered and easily carried about from place to place. Not to mention that they represent some pretty sophisticated tools at a bargain price. I don't need a K3. Give me more mini-modules! :-). Tom, AK2B ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. Thanks to Elecraft for the new mini modules. I will add them to the growing arsenal of Elecraft test equipment. [Elecraft] mini modules
Hey Elecrafters, With respect to the K2, which elecraft mini module would be the best asset for alignment or trouble- shooting? I realize each piece does a specific job, but I am really new to kit building. Plus I want something else to practice my soldering on besides the K2 itself.Hi! Hi! Re: [Elecraft] mini modules
I have the noise generator, dummy load and signal generator. All are extremely useful and I really suggest having them. Of course, none of them (except a dummy load) are needed when building the kit, but they sure make it a lot easier. RE: [Elecraft] mini modules
Dennis, If you do not have a good dummy load, I suggest the DL1 as a first priority. Follow that with the N-Gen to use when aligning your filters using Spectrogram, and then the XG1 or XG2 to give you a good reference point for setting the S-9 point on your S-meter. If you are into SSB and want to be certain you are generating a clean signal, the 2T-Gen is a nice addition to your toolkit. And lastly, if you have a power meter of any type, the CP1 can be built as a 20 or 30 dB coupler. After you get operaional, the W1 wattmeter and the BL1 can be helpful, but that depends on your antenna situation. If you do any experimenting at all, you may find the AT1 a valuable asset to your toolbox. So choose according to your needs. Every hamshack need some kind of measuring equipment IMHO, and the Elecraft mini-kits are a good start on providing tools for your workbench. 73, Don W3FPR > -Original Message- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Dennis Vavra > Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2007 10:01 PM > To: elecraft@mailman.qth.net > Subject: [Elecraft] mini modules > > > Hey Elecrafters, With respect to the K2, which elecraft mini > module would be the best asset for alignment or trouble- > shooting? [Elecraft] Mini-modules: New enclosures
Hi all, While working on a prototype enclosure for the HexKey, I ran into a couple of problems and I am now waiting on some new parts to help out in the effort. While waiting for the new parts (and my K3!), I decided to prototype up an enclosure for the DL1 dummy load and the BL2 balun. I've used both of these in portable/field ops and thought they would be good candidates for housing in an enclosure. You can see some pictures here: http://w8fgu.home.comcast.net/~w8fgu/enclosures.html I haven't come up with pricing info yet. I need to build a couple more and get the timing down - I'm thinking somewhere in the $10 - $15 range. If you are interested in any of these enclosures, please drop me a note. I would like to know if there is enough interest for me to place these into production. I also welcome any and all comments and suggestions regarding the enclosures.
