Probably many readers of this forum have a 2M radio in the shack for local chat. Mine is a Kenwood tm-g707. I just dug it out of storage and set it up to listen to the local club net, which is on 147.6 direct. It's mounted under the table, almost right below my K3, and I quickly discovered that something coming from the K3 was just strong enough to break the squelch intermittently. After much fiddling I found that whatever it is, it's being radiated by the headphone cable, that 3-wire arrangement that comes with the Heil boom headset. A ferrite clamped on the cable almost did the trick, but not quite; eventually the solution was to take several turns of the cable through one of those rectangular ferrite gadgets from Radio Shack. So if you run into the same problem, you may be able to solve it the same way.
